Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If it would end all future posts on the shovel, it might be worth the effort, but I won't bet on that happening.

Fake group ride done. I started with lead group. Dropped after 15 mins due to “digital chain drop” and drifted back to middle group. Next drop and I moved back to sweep group so it worked out ok. The group used Zoom for chat. I was kind to all and did NOT enable my camera.

buddy just picked up a kicker snap for 400 dollars. Happy for him, he hasn’t been able to ride much due to a new born.

That's pretty good. I got mine for what is now full price - $500. I learned that it USED TO be $600, so $500 sounds a lot better by comparison.

Yup. I got mine for $600 minus 10% I think REI discount. It’s been 2 years so I forget.

Did I get a good buy??

Did another XC ski run. Was faster than Weds but base is frozen and my crappy poles did not penetrate well. Made it a bit more challenging but I only fell once.

I would have to see the math on that one. That's completely counter to my religious beliefs.

2 years ago, yeah.

I saw one in a sales flyer email from The Pro's Closet that had one at $250. Used, of course. I dawdled and it disappeared.

Quick example using the things that are different, same spokes for both builds. Just using info on DT Swiss' website - RR 411 rims, 350 Classic hubs. QR vs T/A center locks.

Front - QR = 149g, T/A = 138g
Rear - QR = 265g, T/A = 268g
Rim - Non-disc = 435g, Disc = 410g

Caliper set-up. Ultegra-level:

Non-disc, pair = 360g
Disc, including rotors = 501g

So, the disc brake wheelset is going to be 83g heavier than the non-disc, when you account for the rotors.
