Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have some rides that I do on my plus bike that gain 3k feet. These rides take less than 3 hours and I could easily do them 3 times per week along with a road ride. Those would be 450k per year and I'm a fat old man. Throw in a few road rides and it could be over 500k.

Then I remembered that I could just do the same think with a t-bolt - ease the edges, stick the head in the track and then just fasten with a knurled nut on the other side of the stop block or whatever. Durrrr. Probably easier than trying to hold and grind a square nut. Just gotta find some that are the right size - I have some on hand, but they're too too big.

Thanks, folks!

I did have a crate engine installed in my Avalanche but that was due to disgust. It sucks up a lot of time.

I've had to accept that I'm not my Dad. I couldn't even keep 1/3 of an acre in check. I'm more like my Mom, who didn't work in the yard but was always happy to enjoy the results of Dad's work.

Now what are you going to sell to buy the top-of-the line? I hear the Kickr Core doesn't rock as well as the Kickr, especially with the special spongy feet....

My wife is sort of onboard for a Kickr Bike. REI says delivery to my store on January 20.

Just a lot of money though.

What does one do??

I'm very much for preparing for the future, but I still believe one has to live life while one still can enjoy life. I know it didn't seem like it, but buying our Tacoma's served that purpose on both sides. As long as we keep sleds, and how little we drive them, it's likely my last car I/we buy ourselves, based on the longevity of those trucks. I get to enjoy it while I can appreciate it, and it'll serve its purpose down the road. Could we afford one after we're retired? Likely, but why?

What good is a few million if you have to use a walker to go get the mail?

Ww had a Jacobsen. Must have been popular in that part of the world. And a big yard to go with it
