Not a bad idea, but there is a little matter of a snow covered mountain range between here and there.

Hills are good for you.

Besides, if I can ride over Snoqualmie Pass right now, what's a few hills down in California and Nevada?

What's the snow line at? US50 over to Sacremento and then up I5 is a lot lower than either Donner or up through Susanville and across to Weed, Ca via Hat Creek Valley and the Lassen Plateau and up I5. It's a lot longer though.

Actually I think going through Susanville may be lower in elevation. US 50 goes over Echo (7,400?). Either way, you can't ride on 5 can you? Might have to ride to the coast and go up 101.

Edit: As for the snowline-it snowed here last night so on this side it is down to at least 4,000. Don't know about the other side. A quick look at Caltrans cams shows no snow at Applegate and Colfax, but snow at Crystal Springs. Huge amounts of snow on 50 at Meyers.

You can ride on most Interstates as long as they don't specifically ban bicycles.

I remember areas of I5 where bicycles can ride it because there are no other practical routes, like around Shasta....

In general, bicycles are only banned in metropolitan areas, because the surface streets are safer.

Snowy, you owe us nothing in the way of a peace offering. You have offended no one. There are others, however, from whom an olive branch would be most welcome....

BTW, I haven't linked to your fav song because I'm still on, yeah, go ahead and say it, DIALUP!
