Opinions and suitability of this Giant Escape City please.
Looking at this to use to commute a ( say 7 miles), run errands and dedicated bike trails. In western burbs of Chicago. Newbie so I have no clue about the quality of the components although I have read here that Giant usually is a great value. Just discovered hey actually have a store fairly close to me also. Thanks.

Go take it for a test ride. If you like it, buy it. Pretty good value for a bike with hydraulic disc brakes and even has a rack and fenders.

The Giant Escape City would be a great bike for what you are using it for. Do you ride in the rain? If so, the disc breaks will be quite useful over the rim breaks. Same for the fenders.
