Trek FX S4 or Cannondale Badboy 3

Trek FX S4 or Cannondale Badboy 3
Hey all
getting my first hybrid to just cycle about on. Nothing serious, just a few miles at the weekends.
which would you recommend between the trek fx s4 and cannondale badboy 3? They are what's available local to me and I am finding it difficult to decide

They’re both nice bikes, so either choice will be a good one, my take is that FXS4 has a better group set and a ridged carbon fork, and is more set up like a road bike. The Cannondale has a “lefty” front suspension fork, which tend to be a little heavier and a Alivio groupset which isn’t bad, but it looks to be more of a trail oriented bike. If you’re just going to use the bike for fitness on will be on hard surfaces, I think the FXS4 would be a better choice.

Thanks. When I rode the Badboy I like the riding position. The front wheel appeared to be positioned further forward when compared to other bikes i tried that day. I can't recall what the Fx S4 was like in this respect.
What spec or geometry explains the difference I'm referring to? Thanks

They're both hybrid bikes but I don't think they're in the same sub-category of hybrid bikes. The FX is a fitness bike which is really a flat bar road bike that is setup with a more upright riding position. The Badboy to me is more like a rugged urban bike (more MTB inspired). If your ride is mainly in the city on rough pavement and you like hopping on/off curbs, the Badboy will be more suited for that.
However if as you said, your ride will only be a few miles on the weekends, I would save my money and get like a cheaper model like the FX 3, or a comparable Specialized Sirrus or Giant Escape.
But you also said you like the riding position in the Badboy. So if you fit better with the Badboy, that's what you should get. A bike that you feel comfortable riding, is a bike that you will want to ride everyday.

The Trek FXs4 iS twitchy bike. "Responsive" is how the marketing guys would phrase it. I was shocked at how noticeable it was, even as compared to my Roubaix. It's a fun bike to be sure and I really like the way mine rides, but it's not particularly plush and the 2x gearing doesn't have a very low granny gear.

I can't speak for the Cannondale - but I have a 2018 FX S4 and love it. It's incredibly smooth, handles perfectly and the running gear is solid. Just as an endorsement, it's a solid bike.
I primarily use it on gravel paths and paved paths. I'd feel up for taking it on the road as well. The gearing allows quick acceleration and agile handling.

There definitely are, but you made the comment earlier that these are the only two available locally to you. I know for certain that Specialized has some nice Sirrus models that compete with the Trek FX S-series bikes, and Giant offers the Fastroad series, but I wouldn't buy one without being able to ride it first.
