Pinarello late 80/90s
Hi, looking to trace the year and model of my bike, can anyone help?
Chrome forks complete with crown.
Chrome chain stay
Monagramed seat stays
Campagnolo drop outs 130mm
Brake cable running inside top tube but entering on the side not top.
Bottom bracket plain not like the Montello of the early 80s

@Classicbill - Welcome to one of the most knowledgeable bike forums!
Pictures are worth over a thousand words. Post on a host site like flickr and add a link until you have enough posts.
Is there a chain stay bridge?
Any decals that have dates/year?
Solid color or multiple?
You might want to cruise the catalogues here

Any reference to the tube set? Dolmen, Oria, Columbus?

it fits the description of a 90s Treviso, which is a pretty common model - so its probable. nice bike. Columbus GPX tubing?

Pinarello late 80/90s
Treviso looks about right, are there anymore pictures as the rear triangle on mine looks shorter and the rear brake cable route looks different as well as the rear brake mount Ann bottom bracket. Pictures are on Facebook on vintage Pinarellos page, still need to get more posts to add pictures

just google for pictures of treviso. I would not go off the cable routing much as they kept changing it as the years went and it does not have much to do with the model mostly. it was top tube, then internal top left, then internal bottom left, .. and probably places in-between. wherever Luigi drilled it becomes a bit fuzzy after a few glasses of wine at lunch.

Looks like a Treviso/Asolo depending on how they felt at the time! One of the best finished and best riding frames I’ve ever owned! What colour and transfers would look correct? With a frame number of F3798 I would say it’s 1998

For me, the red herring in it being 1990s is the presence of the Campagnolo dropouts. My understanding is that Pinarello introduced self-branded dropouts circa 1987-1988. I can't recall seeing a Gavia (introduced in 1990) that didn't have Pinarello dropouts. Also, the handful of mid-1990s Team Banesto models that I've seen have all used Pinarello dropouts. It might be an earlier model that has been reconfigured and repainted.
The first thing I'd do is remove the front wheel and check inside the bottom of the steerer tube for the five helical ridges indicative of a Columbus steerer. They can sometimes be hard to detect, especially if any corrosion has set in, so if you're uncertain you could remove the fork and check for the Columbus logo on the outside of the steerer. If I confirmed a Columbus steerer, then I'd remove bottom bracket and check inside the ends of the tubes for similar helical ridges indicative of Columbus SLX or TSX. This is a fair amount of work but it's always advisable to inspect and regrease the bearings on new acquisitions, especially a bicycle of this level.

Here is an Asolo I bought NOS in '06, so I don't know the year. It had Dolmen tubing. Unfortunately, it died a horrible death in '08. If you have a good eye, you can see the bent fork, top tube, down tube and the handle bars in the photo.

My 88 Montello still has Campagnolo branded dropouts.
I think the transition to Pinarello branded DO's was not across the board and happened within a span of a couple of years.

My Pinarello has the GPT stamp plus the word pinarello on the fork caps. Any idea what model it might be? Estimate late 1980s early 1990s.

Not sure, yet, about the vintage of this Dolemite but it sports the Pinarello drops also...

The bike shown above is still for sale on Gumtree in Australia (like Craigslist.)
The seller seems to think it's a Veneto. Unfortunately bulgier.net is down at the moment so I can't check.
