Classic Ciocc San Cristobol

Hi All... I'm happy to just about to have my Classic Ciocc San Cristobol ready to ride after I apply the handlebar tape. Not sure of the year just know early 80's. It's all Campy but I can't tell exactly which group set. It has Ambrosio tubulars. I'll post better pictures when the weather is better:

I’ve wanted a Ciocc ever since I read about the old graphics on the seat tube. Apparently on older ones. Socially/politically incorrect. 😁😉

Another "whaaaa?", do you mean the "World Champ globe" that commemorates the victories at San Cristobal and Nurburgring?

Edit, on 2nd thought the poster could be thinking of anotther model, the "Mockba '80" which had such a commemerative decal but on the TOP tube, refers to the Silver medal won by a Polish rider at the 1980 Summer Games in Moscow on a Ciocc. Pelizzoli built frames for the Polish National team for that race and for some years prior. But I see nothing incorrect about it, happens to be a plain fact.

Mine was an 85, but it came with Triomphe.

Actually, I get a little touch of Polish pride about that. My paternal grandfather was full-blooded Polish, and grandma was half-Polish & half-Welsh. 😎

Never heard such a story, and since I own two (actually am working on an early San Cristobal frame as we write in this lockdown time) I have followed everything I could find online about this marque and the builder (plus subsequent builders) so that's a new one for me!
It (donkey's *ss) never made it into any of the decal sets that sellers are offering, now or previously.

I've seen some really early ones in original condition and I've never seen that on the seat tube. I never heard the story either.

Very nice. Is that a repaint?

I agree in that it has early 80’s features. Pelizzoli signature on the top tube; ones built by him tend to be more desirable.

From all I can tell, like scuffs on the bottom bracket and grime indicating years of sitting around it's not a repaint

My wife with her San Cristobal. The downtube-headtube lug on her 1985 Brianchi Brava broke clean through so I moved the parts to a beautifully restored frameset from Italy that I bought on Ebay. It is actually signed by Giovanni Pelizzoli.

great and I'm a confessed fan...BUT the "signature" of Giovanni Pelizzoli is generally nothing but a decal AND the buyers (Bonati and partner) who got the name from him also contunued to apply that signature decal long after "Mr. Ciocc" had ceased building these, personally or even as a silent partner. HOWever the silver example above has "early style" graphics (note the capital C without the "spur") so if they are original then very good chance this one was built when Pelizzoli was running the shop, himself.
Then again, you say it's been "restored" so decals were certainly added after paint BUT if this was a restro done by Pelizzoli then it could be an ACTUAL signature by "the Man".

I bought the fameset last August knowing that CIOCC was a respected brand. At the time I read up on it and kinda learned what you've written. Also Cicli Pelizzoli ? Masters are back and
.
I just looked up the Ebay listing in my purchase history and while the details are no longer available the title was "RESTORED - CIOCC SAN CRISTOBAL VINTAGE FRAME BIKE PELIZZOLI SIGNED CADRE TELAIO". The signature is on the side of the top tube not shown and looks to have been done with a black Sharpie on top of the clearcoat - no big deal. The chrome, paintwork, and decals are flawless, much better than the Bianchi it replaced. It lives at our lakehouse and I'll takes some better pics next time we go.
