Any Ideas for Something like a University placard on your bike?
A lot of people like to publicly pay tribute to their time in university by placing their university placards on their primary vehicles. With those vehicles being primarily cars, the license plate placards are noticeable but not too overt and flashy.
For those whose primary mode of transportation is that of the bicycle, what are your options though? Most university sweaters are flashy (sharply colored) and one doesn't wear them at all times. The same can be said of university scarfs that are worn only for the winter climate. Finally, stickers don't last as long as license plate placards.
Does anyone here have some interesting ideas for vehicles that tend to not have license plates?

Paint the entire bicycle to match the university colors.

I agree. It's an odd request. Want to show a school affiliation? Buy a cycling jersey with the school's logo on it. Maybe the school has a cycling team and buying their jersey helps to raise funds for the team. I've seen that where my one daughter went to school.
I own a jersey from where the other daughter went to school. She bought it for me as a gift. Heck, I sent nearly $200,000 there, I ought to get a jersey...

How about a BMX-style number placard on the front or rear of the bike, with the school's logo?
I've always assumed most of those cars I see with school decals or license plate frames etc are advertising not where the driver went to school, but where their kid goes. But I suppose that depends on the driver's age: obviously a guy in his 20s with a Michigan or a USC or a Villanova sticker doesn't have a kid who goes there, but a guy in his 40s or 50s might.

A small decal or sticker could be placed almost anywhere on a bike...I think somewhere on the front fork would be classy.

I've seen people put automotive grade stickers on their bikes. A recent bike on Craigslist had the headbadge replaced with a well wearing U of Texas sticker. Those stickers last as long as the riders care to ride the bike, but clearly they aren't as nice lookin' as a 3 dimensional plastic injected item you stick on a car.
Personally, since I went to nationally unknown schools, I prefer something simpler.

I bought a jersey of the cycling team where I went. I wasn't much of a rider then, except to class. I wish I had. Anyway, google to see if your alma mater has a cycling team and shoot them an email asking to buy a jersey. They may even have a store set up. Buy it at full mark up so the team gets the profit, and throw in a little bit more if you can afford it.
What I would not do is buy a generic college jersey from an online seller. Go to the team itself.
