Specialized 3.0 v Elite AL
Went to LBS looking for '20 Specialized Sirrus 3.0 @ $875. LBS suggested option of '19 Specialized Sirrus Elite AL for $900 (say down from $1199, but I've only seen it for $1000).
Thoughts on the choice?
I'll also be testing the Trek FX 3, which comes in about $50 lower than the Sirrus 3.0.
TIA!

Is this the Elite? And this the 3.0? I think the Elite is a better value -- you get more Shimano parts (vs. Microshift) and you get Shimano hydraulic brakes vs. Tektro hydraulic brakes. You also get more (marketed) compliance in the Elite's fork vs. the 3.0. The bike has to fit, though -- if they have only one example in the Elite, it's the wrong size, and they can't get any more, then it may be a moot point.
I think the Trek FX 3 and the Giant Escape 1 are both even better values for what you get. The Giant's drivetrain is all Shimano 2x9, though with the same Tektro brakes the Sirrus 3.0 has. The Giant also offers larger tire clearance if you like that. It's $830. The Trek, at $800, also gives you a full Shimano drivetrain, and Shimano hydraulic brakes.
Is your bike shop marking the Trek up from $800 (on Trek's website) to $825 in the store?
Good bikes, all of these.
