Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kurt Kinetic Road Machine Skewer

I hate the skewer that came with my KK Road Machine. It is just a tad hard for me to adequately and effectively tighten the nut when I mount the Forte Titan rear wheel that I use on the KK.

Could somebody please recommend a steel rear skewer that can work with my KK Road Machine and is not too expensive.

Thanks.

any generic round skewer will be fine. as long as the ends are the same shape it wont matter.

This may sound too obvious, but do you know how to tighten a quick release skewer? If all you're doing is trying to tighten the nut by hand, you'll never get the skewer tight enough in the dropouts. The cam lever on the other side of the skewer is there for a reason. The KK skewer is more than adequate when used properly.

Go about 2/3rds down this page to where they show how to close a QR.

Oh, and one other thing. Your KK skewer does have a conical spring on each end, right?
