Hello from California
Hello,
Thanks to everyone for creating/administering and contributing to these forums. I have learned a lot from browsing threads over the past year. Not sure I will be able to contribute much back but decided to finally do an introduction. A few data points on my bike background below...
Thanks
Bikes:
2012 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105
2013 Novara REI folding
1986 Trek 660ES
1985 Trek 850
Cycling Experience:
Commuting (pre-retirement)
Weekly club ride and weekly senior breakfast ride (pre-pandemic)
Currently doing weekly solo road rides of 50 to 100 miles and mixed pavement/double-track rides of 25 miles or so
Did a couple of short, loaded bike tours when in college in the 70's
Did a fully supported group tour of Taiwan last year
Interests:
DIY bike maintenance
Vintage
Non-competetive (slow-ish) cycling
Bike gadgets
Randonneuring
Goals:
Complete a 200K brevet within RUSA time limits someday
Go on a couple more supported bike tours--C&O/GAP trail? Olympic Peninsula? Europe?

Hello, welcome to the forum! I've also joined recently because after looking around a lot, and learning new things from others in the group, I'd thought it would just be best that way - despite I don't know too much, yet. Cycling one day in Europe sounds fun, I've been thinking to do that myself; although one must do research first and like always when traveling abroad, be careful. I've heard that bike theft is really common over there! I've heard that every year there was a small bicycle event somewhere in Italy for bicycles (pre 1987/1985?) that when you finish the course, you get a small certificate that you completed it. It sounds simple, but I hope I'd one day would be able to go there (after corona, of course) - just for the fun of it!
Greetings from Kern County and happy cycling!
