Yes, the 2nd was on Monday. After the first dose I was just tired and slept a lot for a couple of days. The 2nd, not as tired but had wide swings between fever and mild hypothermia (101 F to 96.4 F) accompanied by sweats and chills. Much fun.

First ride on the mostly new bike. We swapped a bunch of parts from an old bike and added some new to the new frame/fork. Picked up a nice 3t team carbon bar from Sunrise. Tires are set up tubeless with 2.1 WTB Nanos. Hard to tell due to lighting but the tape goes from green to purple at the top. Built as she is riding it came to 25.24lbs, while finishing I discovered that her chain was slightly stretched, not bad and she shifts so we're retiring the cassette to the trainer and I've ordered a 10sp XT cassette and chain that compared to the Tiagra chain and cassette should get the bike just below 25lbs.
Have an ortlieb seat bag for bike packing, now I have to find the cages that will mount to the fork for her sleeping bag and the air mattress for our summer adventure.
My bike has parts trickling in.

BTW in case any of you locals are wondering, here's the unplowed Bethpage MUP....
...and here's one of the pretty well cleared roads winding through the totally unusable golf course maybe 75 yards away from the MUP.
Makes total sense to me.

I would have thought they'd run a tractor with a snow blower attachment up and down the long beach boardwalk to clear it, turns out I was wrong and it was in too rough a shape for the kids to ride on with ice patches. Even the Norman Levy park was closed to hiking due to dangerous path conditions. Still gotten in a couple hikes.

Thx Joe. Confirms what I've always known that the BP SP staff and management is not oriented towards the recreational aspects of this park, they have always had a golf course oriented attitude.

Hey, kaos joe nice tracks? I'm jealous. I had to work. I would have loved to get out on skis. Now with Covid, employers don't have snow days, they have work from home days.

Hopefully next week will get up to Harriman for some hiking/camping. Will need the snowshoes for that.

Your still skiing kaos joe . When you are making tracks it doesn't have the same smooth feel as when following tracks. There is no glide. I do this with may crappy three pin boots but I;m still getting it out and that is what I enjoy.

After taking a 2 week break prior to getting my PSA blood work done... i'm back on the bike.
46 miles and it was a glorious day. The roads are clear with some melt but no ice. Temps were as low as 32*, not counting wind chill, and in the sun it was relatively warm. As always the wind is a beast.
As to my PSA comment, i'v found that my number is higher when i'm actively riding and if I take 2 weeks off it returns to normal. The first time it was high prompted my urologist to do a biopsy... not pleasant. The next time I had it was over the winter and it was normal After talking to him he said riding can cause the prostate to be inflamed which can make the number go up. So I did some testing and had my PSA taken when actively riding and then again after a 2 week break. The results were consistent with it being normal or almost double when riding. Good for me to know so I won't get concerned in the future.

Nice afternoon for a short 30 mile road ride, finally. And who should I run into but my Fine Fellow-Fendered Friend on the yellow Emonda. Too bad you were southbound while I was still heading north.
Road shoulders OK but a lot of meltwater. I'm glad I had full fender coverage. Bike is clean, shoes are dry and white jersey has not a speck of road grunge on it.

Good to see you Joe. BTW, I was on my Cannondale SuperX, the Emonda doesn't go out in this kinds of weather.

Joe, the beach MUP was clear, I assume so since there's no shade. I stayed off the Bethpage path with the exception of the bridge over the Southern State which was still ice covered and I had to walk the bike over it.

I just said no to the road in that wind and figured the (local) trails would be muddy, so I popped up to Harriman for a spur of the moment hike. I've been wanting to do a winter overnight at the West Mountain lean-to and this looked like winter's last goodbye kiss. My usual partners in crime were either working or traveling, so solo it was. Beautiful up there, still a good bit of snow. The wind was roaring with a fury the whole time, was 16 degrees for my breakfast alfresco. 2 Beautiful days. And no......dreaded mosquitos!
Must have been the wind.
But now I'm ready for spring and going over the bikes. First thing, check my chains!

Did a loop around through Bethpage Black and the they are starting to work on the greens. A few karts, tractor and 2 pickups. One stopped and reminded me that bikes are not allowed, I told him I understand and for my safety i'll stop using it.
