Anyone know anything about these frames?
Tange Ultimate SuperLight Tubeset = 1870 grams. this tubeset was first produced in 1991. Does not seem like this would have a 1870 grams tubeset since it weighs over 1960.
Has Dura ace EF Dropouts. These are shorter horizontal version.
Long top tube on the 55.5 c-t-c cm size, 57cm top tube. . Very rare on a heat treated frame. OLD is 128mm
The pink in the head badge and ":TEAM 925 " does not look good. Some have it in green I guess that is in another year.
The fastback seatstay joint looks nice.
In 1993 only says Team 925 on top tube?
In 1994 has Team 925R on the top tube?
How many colors other than the Yellow/Blue, Ti finish, & Black and Blue on the Ti finish?
What lugs, BB, crown etc?

I had an 825pro mountain bike in Tange Ultimate superlight, fabulous but too small for me so sold it to a friend about 15 years ago. Last year he did a 1800km ride down the west coast of France on it. Superb frame.

As opreviously mentioned, Fairly of Taiwan contract manufactured most of the Parkpre models, in which case the serial number will reveal the exact manufacturing date.

Got the frame home and can see the lugs have more steel at the top. Might help in a minor crash. Bottom bracket is a little thinner than my Henry James, but seems appropriate because of the thinner tubing? Pump peg is a nice touch for the 1990s but will probably be unused now.
I like smaller chainstay bridge too.
Now for the downside: the chainstays are flattened on both sides. I think flattened it on the inside only is superior?

@avhed, fyi, that paint scheme was used by the senior (i.e., non-junior) Parkpre/Conejo Velo Team sponsored by Shaklee. The original Team Parkpre bikes were like my pink & white fade with blue splatter. A little later, around 1991 (as I vaguely recall), the senior CAT 1-2 team picked up some other sponsors including Shaklee and they began racing under a different team name and colors.

My frame came with an alloy Tange Fusion fork, but I think your frame would have originally come with a painted steel fork.

Tange Prestige was introduced in the mid-1980s and was heat treated right from the beginning.

Nice.
The forks look at a shallow angle in the pic. Optical illusion?
On my frame,if the seller disclosed that the forks in the pic are 850 grams,probably would of been better to wait for a fork that matches the frame.
All the screws were removed except for the dropouts.
Paint not in great shape.
At least its the size I want. I have a 56cm Columbus SL frame, and I want to go to a 55.5 to get a slightly steeper seat angle. Plus the chainstays are 1 cm shorter than my Columbus frame.

Seems my frame was built in the first year of the Ultralight Tube Set. The first 2 numbers are 91.

I have seen frames with this tube set and serial number format before, for several different brand names.

The frames that I have seen were made in Japan. This frame maker also made frames for brand names Longus and DiamondBack Master TG.

Noticed a frame that has green in the top ParkPre decals instead of the pink mine has. Would this be a later year? Say 1991= pink 1992= green?

Thats 1937 grams. With the different Tange Prestige tube sets over the years and more limited info on the Japanese product, its hard to nail down whats exactly on my 1991 frame.
My Columbus SL frame is an 1.25 ounces over the tubeset weight.

This thread is an odd read, but the parkpre paint schemes are so cool that its worth me being confused over the point of the thread.

OP- post up a pic of your bike fully built! Is the paint still original or did you change it?

Ha, thats the part that really confused me. I thought 'man, thats the cool frame gaucho has. Why is it posted within avhed's comments and how did I miss the initial comment?' then I looked for the first time that pic was posted in this thread, couldn't find it, and became all sorts of confused.


I think the OP is annoyed his frameset doesnt weigh less? Not sure why, since its a very respectable weight for an early 90s production steel road frame, but I guess every gram counts...
