Great to join you
Hi everyone. I'm an old road racer/triathlete/barefoot runner/bicyle tourist in Eastern Iowa who is looking forward to some extended touring adventures with my recent retirement
from full-time journalism (to part-time freelance) at age 64. Thank you for welcoming me into this forum. As I am now Officially Old, Looking forward to learning
from you younger and more active cyclists about the latest tech and expanding my cycling world into snow cycling when I get a fat bike, and some big downhill stuff when I get a better mountain bike.
I'm also interested in wheelbuilding although my last set d!id not live up to expectations for the large friend I gave it to. I just get into a nice zen headspace when I'm building wheels
or solving an interesting bike problem. My bikes include a '87 Bob Jackson touring bike, a -82 Trek 910, a Univega mountain bike converted to a gravel bike,
some old hardtail MBs, and a 1962 Robin Hood 3-speed that I've used for commuting. I also have a pedal-less Kickbike that I use to train for XC skiing, and just... for kicks.
