I ran into a pot hole in a field racing to the start line less than a minute before the start of the race. I flipped over at around 20 mph landing shifters first. I destroyed the bar, actually crumpled it in the stem. The diameter was less than 31.8 so I had to find someone with an allen key all with less than a minute to go. Barely got the line before it started.
It hurt a lot more yesterday and today.

tmiller: Great shots in the rest of your flickr set, too!
I'm guessing around 15mm or 21mm lens?
I'll have to dig out my wides now.

My last lap in NEOX- #3- B race. I crashed hard 20 seconds into the race when someone hit my back wheel while making high speed zig-zag. By the time I got myself together, bar straightened, shifters straight and working, and worked the chain back past the "chain keeper" I spotted the Men 2 minutes and the Open Women one minute. All I could do was chase for 45 minutes and pick off one rider at a time. I have not seen final results yet, but I believe I caught all the women except for the 3 on the podium and caught about a 1/3 of the 50 men in the B race.
The guy behind me in the picture followed my wheel the entire 1.9 mile last lap. He is too much of a sportsman to pass me while I'm racing. He was warming up for the A race. Notice the National Champ bars on his sleeve.

Nice mud pit and water hazard today for my first race.
Glad I finally got to ride, hope I can find an action pic at some point.
Here are pics of some of the action:

I need different shoes for muddy and wet cross. Every time I hit that and the deep water puddle my shoes filled up and I had my whole toes submerged for the rest of the lap.

A couple of shots of me at Alpenrose:
Demonstrating my perfect form on the barriers...
..and relentlessly pursuing my prey in the velodrome...

Looks like the two judges are writing down your style points.
How fast does one have to go to stay up on that high velodrome bank?

I made it onto PDXCross.com! (This is actually my second appearance in their awesome pictures, but it's always exciting.)

Nice bike. Did you have family taking pics of you? I was hoping to find a shot of me to commemorate my first race.
I remember passing you on the back stretch by the lake and you asked me if I was behind you or something? My brain didn't have enough blood to process that request
It was the last lap and I had thought the previous lap was going to be my last so I was getting burnt. My drivetrain was popping as well which had my attention.
Hope to make it to Spooky Cross if I can convince my wife. Sounds like that'd be fun to do a night race.

A friend was there and took a few shots of me. He raced 45+.
I was trying to ask you if anyone was behind you. I tried to catch you and unlap myself; but couldn't pull it off.
I didn't want to be lapped by the entire field; turns out all but one did.
Spooky Cross is my wife's B-day so I'm really iffy for that. She's making me go to a quilt guild silent auction and tea from 1-5.
If spooky is really at 8; that quilt event should get me enough points to get out.
