Seems ridiculous to exclude something that actually was built pre-1987, for aesthetic reasons, but allow something built last year, if it merely "looks old". If that's not blatant hypocrisy, I don't know what is.
I don't see how anyone could defend this logically, but there's no logic whatsoever required for such pronouncements, so I won't lose any sleep over it. It's their ride.

I had had to copy this just in case the ad gets taken down.
Jamis mountain bike, formerly donor bike for my e-bike cruiser. Technically component-complete, but this is a bike only in the strictest technical sense of the term. The rear wheel is further out of true than an adulterous spouse trying to explain the Visa bill for $20,000 in lingerie to their partner. The rear tire is literally worn smooth, it could be one atom thick and held together by the green anti-puncture goo. The front tire is brand new with less than one mile on it...but it came off a piece of **** Huffy cruiser that became the NEW donor bike for my e-bike cruiser.
Caliper brakes front and back, technically present and the front ones even can be kind of adjusted into alignment. Shimano shifters work fine I guess; I always just used the motor. Frame itself has many dings and cosmetic defects. Seat and cargo rack are broken and really broken but still attached, respectively. Bike was a good fit height-wise for a 5'10" man. Frame is approximately 33 cm.
The air in the tires is guaranteed 100% breathable Earth air. You inhale that and drop dead, I will refund your money IMMEDIATELY.
Look, I go through bikes the way Jerry Lewis used to go through wives - get them cheap, ride them hard, then trade off for a newer model. It's an opportunity for you to pick up some replacement parts or frankenbike components, just like it was an opportunity for the out-of-work yoga instructors who got to date an A-list starlet to pick up some decent second-hand strange every time Mr. (or Mrs.) Jerry Lee decided someone three times her age wasn't good enough to irrigate her yoga pants.
$25 bucks for everything. You pick up. I'm here most of the time.

The guy needs to understand and clarify that Jerry Lewis and Jerry Lee Lewis are two entirely different people.

I don't see how anyone could defend this logically, but there's no logic whatsoever required for such pronouncements, so I won't lose any sleep over it. It's their ride.

Regarding the ersatz Bianchi, I keep thinking, would you go to a "classic" car show, and expect to see a bunch of replica AC Cobras and Model As built last year?

Well somebody needs to offer him SOMETHING for it, so he can afford a camera that can actually focus on the subject.
Seller also wants to take it to a handmade (more like hand-broken) bike show (wrong initials, but I digress...), so you may not get it until next year anyway. Yeah, okay.
Finally, gotta wonder, why the eff did he bother listing the frame size, brake mount type, etc?

Nah. It's in case you only have a 54cm space over your fireplace...
