Doc chimed in first. I'm too out of focus, listening to Robert Earle Keen and drinking "fortified" egg nog.
I think we'll be setting up our inaugural Iron Maiden in fine shape to kick tail in style.
Given her preference for Merle, we'll have to call her ride the Highwayman.

Yes she does. Her "putting around the neighborhood" bike is the blue Centurion mixte pictured up thread with the IMs around page 229-230. Her serious bike is pretty serious.
The IM and Team Miyata ready to slay some Carbon Commandos at Naylor's Beach one year. Unfortunately, the IM needs a rider upgrade to be competitive.

I went back and found her mixte. That's a great looking bike. I hope I don't accidentally find one or I would probably be working on another granddaughter bike. I have no shortage of granddaughters we have 7 and 1 grandson.

I've been busy today and away from a computer. If anyone has not been following, TXsailor is building an IM for his granddaughter. Some of the members here are helping him with parts and info. I will be sending my stuff out tomorrow or Friday at the latest. I will PM Txsailor with address, etc details. I am checking one last time before it goes to make sure everything matches up right. TX, you need to tell us how many cogs in back you have decided upon. I am sending:
1) A Sugino VT 165 crank with standard chainrings/spacers/bolts for 5-8 cogs. I think the spacers are 5mm. I don't have any bikes with more than 8 cogs. I don't know if those rings/spacers will work with 9 chains/spacing, but someone does. If it is 8,that is great. If it is 9, I need to know if I need to drop the rings/spacers/bolts and just send the spider/crankarms.
2) A wheelset with 1050 105 hubs/Araya CTL 370 rims. The rear is a FH-1050 freehub. TXsailor will change out the hub body so he can use Hyperglide cassettes. Hence the question about the crank.
If there are no conflicts, then I will send it out tomorrow.

Ca-wink-e-dink !
This bike lives 5 minutes from me . If I brought it home Ms.westi would just not understand , you know because it's not my size . I have been wanting to add a Turbo to the N group and I have been thinking about trying out a 54cm . I would have to raise the mast a little more than normal and a longer stem but I kind of like that look . Anyhow here it is , there is noway I can buy it right now but if someone needs some facilitation , I would really like to go see this bike . Maybe I'll ride the Comp over to see it .

You know, I never noticed the Scott logo on the clip-ons before. I don't use them much, but @ScottRyder has a picture of them in use carrying pizza.

So I purchased this aero bar attachment with gripshift from a fellow BF member and I wasn't sure how many speeds it was . It turns out it's a 8 speed. So perfect for my '88 Carbon. I just need the gripshift as I'm gonna put them on my aero bars. The problem however, is I only have one wheelset acceptable for my 8 speed cassette and it's being used on my '89 Ironman. So I decided to see how those wheels would look on the carbon and they look great. So then I put the '88 wheels on the '89 they Did Not look good. So I'll have to get me another wheel to make it work because I gotta tell ya my '89 summertime blues looks just about perfect. It shifts and rides as well as any bike should.
To be honest all my Ironman are just as perfect as can be (for me). Since my '86 is already a 6 speed and my '87 is a 7 speed my intentions are to turn my '88 in to a 8 speed and my '89 speed into a 9 speed. And when I come across some, change the drive train components to Dura Ace... eventually. Since these are the only bikes I have or will have I'm in no hurry. Besides as rccardr has informed me it ain't easy to get a complete set of Dura Ace in good condition. But that's all I desire for changes to my Ironman bikes. They are just so good looking with Aero seatpost, the original scott dh aero bars, gripshift, and inner tube bar wrap. Sometimes I just stare at my bikes and think Dang that's a good looking bike.
Anyways here's a picture of the 8 speed gripshift that will be going on my '88 Carbon Ironman as soon as I decide on wheels.
