Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just got into riding a little over a year ago, and was bit by the cycling bug. My wife isn't in to it nearly as much as I am, but she'll ride every once in a while.

Wifes bike. CAAD5, Tiagra components, stock Giepemme wheelset:

My beater/night bike. Specialized Roubaix. 105 components, Shimano R550 wheels:

My first foray into the carbon world. Kestrel Talon. Ultegra, Neuvation M28 Aero wheelset:

My latest build. '07 Kuota Khan. Haven't ridden her with the new wheels yet, Ultegra SL, Spinergy PBO Stealth wheelset:

Cocaine addition is probably easier to kick than this.

Nice bikes tsgrab, is the Talon frame as harsh and uncomfortable as I've heard? P.S. let me know if you need any help with your cocaine addition, I've got a milligram scale.

I haven't ridden the Kuota enough to see how comfortable it is, but between the Roubaix and the Talon, the Roubaix is much more comfortable. The Talon has a much more aggressive geometry than the Roubaix. I'm sure the uncomfortable nature has been due to my weak core as it is getting more comfortable the more I ride it. I have probably rode it about 1500 miles.

Well, the consensus on the Talon seems to be that it is too stiff for its own good, and that it is more of a prologue or shorter time trial frame not meant for much road riding.

Believe it or not, I think that the Khan has a stiffer frame than the Talon. Even though the Kestrels seat tube angle suggests that it is a road bike, it can easily be made into a TT geometry bike by using the dual position seatpost. But the looks of of definately siggests TT or tri bike.

I absolutely love the gold writing on the black. It looks ace in an 80's Raleigh burner BMX way (which is a very good thing in my book...)

First time poster

Just bought a new 2008 Trek Madone 4.5 Compact

-Replaced 11-25 cassette with 12-27 so I wouldn't have to go with a triple crank
-Replaced 90mm stem with 110mm stem

Love the bike. Especially after 15 years of riding a 1988 Centurion Ironman Expert.

EDIT: I'll leave this pic 'cause it's a sweet looking ride IMO, but the bike is no more *sniff, sniff*... all parts are now on a Lynskey (pic a few pages up).

As stated in the group buy thread I have a set of Cosmic Corbones that will end up on this bike but I like the looks of the Ksyrium SLs better.

You have to host the larger photo on something like imageshack.us or photobucket.com, then you'll get a link for posting on forums. Copy that link into your reply and it'll show up larger.
