Huh? Was that a put down because the frame is old?
The frame and a lot of the parts might be old but that 9-speed corncob is a unique Frankencxluster of 8-speed and 9-speed gogs. It shifts really well with the shifters in friction mode.
The wheels are nothing fancy but they get me to and even better BACK from where I want to be. I use it for hauling 4-liters jugs of water from the local fresh water spring about 20 klicks away each way.
I might switch out the rear mech and the brake levers and shifters for 2001 era 9-speed Campy Mirage Ergos.
Cheers

Ah, gotcha.
I only got that frame last summer. i forget what all was on it. There's a guy just outside of town who does quick-fixes on bikes and then sells them for $50.00 a bike. if there's anything other than a simple fix involved he basically junks the bike. I got his frame for iirc $15.00 with a 1980s Deore crankset and deraillers. I've got so many frames and part bikes from him it's hard to remember what I paid for what and what was on it. Sometimes I'll get an entire bike that just needs adjusting and he'll charge me $40.00 for it. I've picked up a few nice rigid cro-moly frame MTB bikes complete there for $40.00 and even the tires were like new. In fact i got one really nice like new 15 speed MTB with brand new cable lock and helmet for $40.00 complete with the receipt for the helmet and cable.
I built up this white bike and rode it all winter but just took pictures of it the other day.
Cheers

It looks a lot cooler in the dirt-drop thread

Cinelli Zydeco disc
Just want to share my Cinelli Zydeco. The pics show it 10 minutes after I ended to assemble it, so it's clean, the way I wish to remember it!!

Here's my almost new 2016 Niner RLT 9. I've put a couple hundred miles on it and it's a fantastic bike. A bit slower on the road than I'd like but on the dirt it's fantastic. I figure I'll fit some Compass Barlow Pass tires to it when the Schwalbes get destroyed. It climbs like a banshee and I've even taken it on some mellow singletrack. It has done everything asked of it with ease. I love it.
Super nice!
I just picked one up for my wife.
Mom's Day gift of course, so she could hit the gravel rides with the rest of us this summer.

Wanta CX frame custom design and build. Mix of Columbus and Dedacciai tubing. Monocoque carbon fork. About 4lbs frame and 1lb fork. Campagnolo 10 speed drivetrain with SRAM cranks 44/34 teeth. Challenge Grifo tires. Fantastic bike to ride.

Sweet ride! I have the exact same bike! It's such a comforting ride and yet so stiff!

Here is my 2016 setup using WTB Nano 40c front and rear. I completed a very rainy and gritty 33 miles gravel ride yesterday. I was pleased with the new setup.

Here's my gravel/cx bike. It's a Black Mountain Cycles Monster Cross v5 in British Racing Green (58cm frame). Equipped with a CX/Mountain/Road mix of 10 speed 105 levers, Shimano CX50 crankset (with the 36T replaced with a 34T), and Deore XT 9-speed rear derailleur with XT 11-36T cassette. Finished off with Clement MSO 700x40mm tires. Since taking this pictures I removed the road pedals and replaced them with SPDs! The only finishing touch I have yet to do is to replace the saddle, I'm still looking for the perfect one.

heres my latest build. i needed a bike that would be fun for riding all over the place but also double for family rides with my two young boys and as a commuter as the race bike isnt ideal for these tasks.
i got it second hand for £130 and then spent a further £100 changing the brakes from tektro oryx to CR720 ,fitting a new cassette and chain , new tyres, bar tape, recabled the brakes and gears, changed the bottom bracket, chainset and saddle to parts i had in my shed and generally stripped and re-greased everything.
im really pleased with how its turned out its good to have a second multi purpose bike, hopefully if we get a decent summer in the UK i can remove the mudguards and go on a gravel/ off road adventure but for the time being it will serve brilliantly as a commuter / wet weather bike.
i believe its a nashbar steel cyclocross frame with carbon fork and shimano sora groupset , i got if off a guy from the local american airbase. its no lightwieght but its a very smooth ride especially noticible as im used to my carbon race bike running on 23mm tyres

just finished refurbing this bike after i picked it up second hand for £130 of a guy from the nearby american airbase. ive spent around £100 in parts to get it to how it is now its a really fun ride and much more speedy than i expected . the tyres dont like wet grass much as i found out yesterday morning at 25 mph so im suffering a bit of whiplash at the moment but thats my fault for buying dry weather tyres rather than allrounders.
i believe its a nashbar steel cyclocross with carbon fork and a mix of sora and 105 parts ( i had a sram rival chainset and bb spare so i swapped out the cheap FSA one ). ive changed the chainset, cassette, chain, bb,recabled the brakes and gears (both outers and inners),new bar tape, continental cyclocross speed folding tyres, spds and swapped the brakes from tektro oryx to cr720s. ive also stripped and greased the whole bike, added some descrete decals and added a spare saddle i had in my shed.
im really pleased with how its come out and its going to make a great alternative to my carbon race bike for exploring the local countryside

Still has that new bike smell.
Cannondale SuperX Rival CX1. I had the shop change the cassette to a 11-32 and the RD to a mid cage.

Here's an old pic of my current bike: Nashbar Cyclocross Frame + Carbon Fork with 35/38c Serfas Vida
Switched to 45c Specialized Borough Sport (40c) recently after cutting my rear tire. Rolls effortlessly on pavement and the increase in volume makes me want to ride more off road

However I think you should also change out your crank, simply because it is not good looking enough for that frame/fork combo.

We'll see on the Brooks, I've heard bad things about the Cambium saddles color fading.
