Di2 Questions

I've been riding Di2 for eight plus years, synchronized for the last three - one-handed rider, it really helps. I recently built up a gravel bike using a combination of some spare parts - sm-ew90-a j-box, sw-r600 climbing button, battery - and new GRX stuff.

For reasons unknown, it took the j box a week, probably a hundred double taps on the bottom button, and at least 10 reboots to decide I was serious about synchronized mode. It actually happened mid-ride, when I wasn't pushing on anything. Not complaining. I'm leaving well enough alone on that.

The climbing button, however, has a different agenda, like it is rebelling against spending 4 years in a drawer. I push, nothing. I push really hard and hold, which means taking my hand off the bar and pinching, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

E-tube recognizes everything, so its not a connection glitch.

Thoughts?

Bad buttons. Not something E-Tube will show. Usually method is remove the button and try it on a system assembled on a table top to verify if it does anything
