Jon Cannings leaves GCN Tech
Caught a video today where Mr Cannings said he wasnt going to be on GCN Tech show anymore. Kinda sucks imo, enjoyed his enthusiasm and "everyman" appeal. Anyone know if he is moving to another online video venture?

He'll be working in the background mainly on the app side of GCN. He mentioned it in today's ep.

This is a HUGE mistake IMO for GCN. He made the tech channel what it is and he is so personable and an amazing in the videos. I am not happy about this, I think the show will suffer. Ollie is good but Jon is the KING of that show!

Matt Stephens was also excellent. I question whether the parent company of GCN has some management or financial issues? Top talent is leaving or being forced out? Could be nothing but seems like there are some puffs of smoke.

It might be that Cannings just doesn’t want to be on camera all the time. Lasty seems to be still hanging about, but not getting any air time at all. And John “Chocolate Voice” Bevan is still doing commentary on races, just not appearing on-screen at all. So as the operation gets bigger and bigger, there’s clearly more and more for them all to do without necessarily presenting.

I think the idea of him being the one guy the tech side is based on was the reason. Diversification was the goal, just don't like it. The new people are really good though. videos have been really good.
The parent company that owns them (play sports) doesn't lack for funds or resources. I am sure salary for employees are watched very tight still. Probably why Matt went to that other channel for the $$$. I wasn't a huge fan of Matt so that didn't bother me but he was darn good! Emma I honestly don't think she left on her own terms. Just speculation but I followed her on social media like all the GCN guys/gals and she was very vocal and a bit controversial so they probably didn't like that so much. Emma had talent out the ears!

Emma was/is brilliant and really modest about her accomplishments. I kind of chuckle when the GCN hosts presented on group rides knowing she could easily drop her co-hosts if she wanted to.

Some people have a talent for appearing on camera. They just make it look very natural. Matt Stephens could do it and so could Jon Cannings. The rest of the GCN team? Well, considering how hammy/corny some of their videos are it's clear that most of them lack that talent.
