Schwinn Racer

My new find today was this old 3-Speed Schwinn Racer Deluxe. The Sturmey hub says 64, so I'm guessing its gotta be around there. It rides nice and shifts good too. I've never seen one with the stripes and the "Hat in the Ring" before. Is that part of the racer model? I've got a couple of ideas for this one.

++ A larger sized frame ++ Really nice condition. You may want to keep it original for the sake of posterity. For the sake of your posterior, you may want to try a nice leather Brooks B-66.

I like the hat and stripes decal too. I have a 1962 Traveler with the same one.

Here's the Hat in the Ring insignia...

You can Google "Hat in the Ring" for more info. Or the link below...

Do remember that those are Schwinn 26x1 3/8 (597mm) tires not English 26x1 3/8 (590mm) tires.
Great bikes. Well made with good geometry. Overlooked for years but people are starting to notice them again. Kinda heavy but no worse than a Raleigh Sport. If I really wanted to take 10 pounds off for the hill climbs, I'd stop drinking beer.

Amen to that. I've got a '67 that looks just like yours, and that seat is like riding the pointy end of an anvil.
