Put a place holder saddle and pedals on the Trek 520 so I could list it before I had second thoughts, I finally learned to keep the saddles and pedals I like. I really liked the 520 but it mirrors a bike already in the fleet (Nishiki Cresta GT) and I have finite space -sold in 2 days for full asking and I think its going to a good home where it will get used regularly and not languish in the spare bedroom.. Sigh.

@oneclick no glamour shots of the lathe?? As you can see by my profile avatar pic, I am basically human accessory to a lathe, so forgive me for asking.
Slow speeds, aggressive feeds, and sharp tooling make stainless a snap! Nice surface finish.
You gonna make a mold for a replacement rubber hood as well? I know at least one person who could use them.

Rebuilding a few benches and things in the shop. Time to give the good ol' Starrett 4 1/2-6 a rebuild.

Hi,
I have been working on an old Rock Hopper. Tuning up derailleurs, brakes and new tires grips. It's Grey with pink decals. Cool old bike that I use to go fishing.

Boredom and randomly looking at FB Marketplace led me to a Giant Allegre with Campy 8 speed bits that I thought I could clean up ride a bit and sell in this crazy market. Boy was I wrong, one issue after another; cracked front rim, reluctant shifting, tape/sticker residue all over the frame. I thought I had checked it over pre purchase but I obviously didn't do a great job well not bored anymore ..

I spent the last two days wrenching on the Suburban, for a new non-chirping alternator, and the pick up truck giving it a new starter that decided to start heat locking on me. Today I was able to get into the shop after getting the race car repaired and loaded for tonight's carnage, creating a grub bolt for a BF member who needed one for his derailleur. Smiles, MH

Finished a Trek 1220 to sell
This thing shifts and brakes flawlessly. Just a repair and replacement of parts. I originally bought it as a pile of parts. Photos aren't great due to the time of day.

2 stumpjumpers
I've made progress on the two stumpjumpers (an '88 and a '92) that I've been working on. I've had the '88 for a while now and I had set it up as a drop bar commuter. But I really wanted an MTB drop bar gravel bike and the '88 wasn't going to cut it for me with its chain stay u brake. Plus it's on the heavy side. I finished rebuilding the '88 as a flat bar commuter. I made progress on the '92 which I'm going to build as a drop bar gravel bike. It came to me in a sad condition. The frame was sound and the parts were good but the frame had seen a lot of rough handling and it had a lot of dirt that was hard to deal with. So I took care of the rust issues and did a 2 part paint job with flat white rustoleum as a primer and a yellow model paint (an OK match) to cover up the white. It looks pretty good at maybe 10 ft but functionally the paint job is now sound.

A friend at work asked me to take a look at his old late '70s Raleigh Lenton and bring it up to good working order. I think they used the Sprite or Lenton name with these bikes during that time. It is a far cry from the Reynolds 531 Lentons of 1948-1960ish. That being said it is a workhorse of a bike and has given him good service as a commuter and forgetaboutit bike. The original Huret derailleur gave up long ago, and somebody installed a Suntour Honor with stem shifter. It is a solid little piece of equipment, and shifts well once cleaned up. After I had the mud and gunk out of the derailleur and bottom bracket, I gave it all a wash, some compound, and serviced the usual areas, replacing the cables, front tire, and chain. Honestly the bike was really gross but I like how it ended up once the cobwebs were cleared away. The chrome bits were rusted badly, but cleaned up OK. I found a saddle to replace his worn out one, and now its ready for another couple years of tough riding jobs.

I spent some time fiddling with Morticia on Sat fixing a few things I didn’t like with her procession lights unfortunately my back is still killing me from being hunched over the car all afternoon

Well, I finally am getting around to finishing my 58 FI. I started to rebuild the fuel unit after a long hiatus and a lot of procrastination. In order to maintain the original finish instead of bead blasting the unit, I elected to have it tumbled with walnut and glass beads. When I received it, it was already cleaned off all the debris so it need only a little attention...(I blew everything out to clean it anyway).
I should have the distributor done shortly and then I'll start on the Dual Quads for my Nomad.
The before...Ugly!
After....Better Looking!
Best, Ben

It also had a broken lever, I transplanted the other side lever into the housing, after transplanting the dual-cable bit into that lever. Was for sale here, has been spoken for.
Stainless bolts turn pretty nicely - AFTER you anneal the damm things.
