I made this 90s Nishiki into a flat bar and added a 8x2 claris
The frame is so short that is super comfy when riding on flat pavement.
Back tire is a tannus since I ocassionally use it on the trainer

Did you have to rework your cables in order to fit the new bar?
The cables worked out just fine. Full steerage with the bars without pulling the cables tight. I have sold the Roam, would of kept it if I had room, but with the wife's, daughters and my bike there just is no room in the house for more, Have the bars up for sale locally.

Nice bike. How do you like that Tannus? I've been thinking hard about a set for my commuter.

The only thing I dont like is that your bike becomes more rigid, since you dont have the tube to absorb some energy when riding trough holes on the streets. I used to have both with tannus but decided to take the front one (hence different color of the rim) since in my city riding streets is somehow riding CX

New Pics

Myself with a couple of the boys riding a 30mile

New pedals and bottle cage

Rode to the movies

Excercising taking a 6mile ride only to get some fast food.. lol

Testing out my new headlights.. My first one was to be legal.. These 2 are to actually see on dark trails One is more like a flood light.. the other is more of a beam.. Great paired together.. both were very affordable.

My 2016 Focus Crater Lake. Initially it was the Evo spec (second lowest tier), but by now the fork and both derailleurs have been replaced by better parts. Got a matching water bottle too!

Could you show those bar ends from a couple of different angles?

I got them in exchange for an ice cream fro a random local guy on Facebook Marketplace. They're no name aluminum bar ends, but they're long and adjustable in two planes, just what I needed.

Distance between the bar ends (center to center) is 41 cm, so it's pretty much the same as riding on the hoods

Now i have 4 distinct hand postions

Awesome, thanks. I've fashioned something similar on my bike, except mine aren't adjustable in two planes. And I wish I could change the angle slightly to use them with different sweep bars.

Yeah, I had seen your setup posted before, and it served as inspiration for mine. Probably going to get ergo grips too sometime in the future. Not sure if I need a set outer bar ends though.

The bar ends I have, unwrapped looked exactly like these:

Sweet, thanks for the link. I didnt know something like that existed. I'll try to find a pair locally, cause those shipping charges to where I am are insane.

Now I also really want these bars and seatpost: https://www.cxmagazine.com/redshift-...sink-handlebar

My new girl. 2012 DS 8.5 Gary Fisher Collection. I've been calling her Gray Ghost but I'm rethinking that. Perhaps Shadow. (Doesn't everybody name their bikes?) I name all my other vehicles.

Since I moved up from a Gary Fisher Mako, I am thrilled to have her.

Are you sure that is a 2014 year model?

Looks more like the 2012 year model.

I bought it on FB Marketplace from a guy that said he was a used bike dealer from Florida. When I went to his FB page guess what? He is a FL used bike dealer and seems to deal mostly in high end bikes.

2012 or 2014 she rides great and is in almost new shape. I can see putting a lot of miles on this girl.

Do you have the rear iso-zone suspension on your bike on the seat stays?

After further research I think you are right. It does not have the iso-zone frame, it has nebula wheels and a Shimano Octalink Crank. And I think the color is described as Matte Black Titanite. So it looks as though it's a 2012. After reading I'm glad not to have the isozone frame.

However coming off a 2009 Mako I'm still thrilled with my purchase. It rides and looks great and I am happy with the $$$ I paid.

Thanks for the info and I fixed the original post.
