Not much catches my eye anymore but this Serotta Atlanta did. Not a steal but not very common.

80’s Tommaso - Columbus - $65?!?!

And it’s my size?!?! Man, I want this! But it’s just too far to drive with a toddler who wants to facilitate?

don’t know the model, but I see a Columbus decal, and it looks to be in fantastic condition.

someone is going to get the deal of a century on this one!

Trek 728? For a hundred bucks

https://www.ebay.com/b/Vintage-Trek-.../bn_7023376201

This looks like the caliper braked 728 to me, but I’m not sure, it’s a frankin build and the 25.5” size. Looks like the 531 sticker used to be on the fork, the brazing looks correct, two eyelets front and rear, no low rider bosses.

What do you think?

^^^^^^ Needs some therapy. They slapped a modern Shimano Tourney (read: entry level) RD on it, and a set of Suntour Accushift shifters, and a riser stem. And a nutted rear axle? A few niceties, Superbe brakes and a Dura Ace FD, but it's pretty cobbled together.

Anyone else thinking that the recent glut of "deals" are desperation sales of a bike thief's old inventory?

I was thinking, due to the current global situation, that people have a lot more time at home, so they’ve been cleaning out their garages and getting rid of their “junk”.

You think bicycle thieves keep an inventory of bikes, like, in storage somewhere?

I mean it would make sense, maybe they steal a bike but it doesn't sell quick so they gotta store it and try and steal/sell other bikes to keep money coming in.

I suppose someone, somewhere, might have had a warehouse of stolen bikes, but at some point I would imagine the logistics become just as complicated as running a legal bike sales operation.

BUT! If I see my minty ‘84 Trek 610 for sale I’m buy in’ it back! What a nice ride that was!

I miss you, old friend!
That was taken after a muddy day trip. What a zippy mile muncher.

Maybe less the thief, and more the fence? Most articles I've read about bike theft point to chop-shops as a reason more bikes aren't recovered. Dogs breakfast components on bikes priced cheaper than the frame warrants a few questions, in my mind anyway.

2 days? It looks tired, and the sew-ups look shot. I'd be interested if I could keep my wife too 😬.

That's just silly. The parts are worth the price of admission, for Pete's sake. Grrrrr. Someone buy it.

Would be cool if it did, on a Bridgestone, but it doesn't. Cool bike but seems a bit high on price (esp compared to that dang Titan...
