Sorry, been away ,working on hot rods. Helping my parents. And occasionally riding my bike. And working when I can't avoid it.
Been driving my Firebird to and from work for a couple weeks now. 5 years building this thing. It's coming along. The tune is being persnickety, but its getting better slowly.
Going to start ordering sterio components for it shortly, which is convenient....since I blew the front speakers in the Camaro.

Shoveler duck, no. Smoked oysters, yes. And far too much liver and onions growing up. Mom and Dad loved it. Then the grocery store where Mom shopped started selling chicken livers in a tub, and they were delighted. Me? Not so much.
So, not big on liver. Kidneys, OTOH.....
AndI really prefer my oysters raw, if they're Chincoteagues.

One of my cycling friends got a fancy schmancy new electric Porsche. We rode (bikes) together today, he drove over in his car and parked it in front of my house so it was there for a few hours while we were on our ride.
Mrs datlas said it got a lot of looks by people who happened to be nearby.
I still think the Saturn is better.

In Montana it’s legal to take home deer, elk, moose and antelope that you’ve hit with your car accidentally. You may not clean or dress it by the side of the road or sell the meat. You must also go on line and get a retroactive permit so the state can keep track of road kill. Makes total sense and saves the state money from not having to clear carcasses..
Agree that no way someone would hit one on purpose. Corn fed deer can total a car easily.

I can see how that could be a challenge with a convertible. Nice problem to have!

A moose or elk can total you and your car. Don't think antelope are much of a problem. Never seen one close to a road. They have amazing eyesight (their eyes are roughly the size of an elephant's eyes in a much smaller body), and they tend to stay far away from people and moving objects. I was photographing a few way off in the field in SD. They spotted me right away and became wary. Fun fact: The Pronghorn Antelope has the second fastest top speed of any land mammal on the planet. Over distance it can out pace the cheetah.

The worst part about them is that they would pop in the oil, so we had a pan that we would put over the fryer to block hot oil from spraying us. Every once in a while you would forget to put it on and get showered in a spray of previously ~350° oil. I got burned so much at that job I barely even noticed it anymore.
I do like their gizzards though
I do remember my father telling us to not shoot shovelers, back when I would hunt with him as a ute.

These guys were the least skittish pronghorn I've ever seen. They stayed there 10 yards away while I setup camp and they continued grazing and keeping an eye on me 'til the sun went down, and I'm guessing all night long since they were still there milling around and grazing when I got up in the morning.
