Unfortunately, most of the "minty" bikes I've found didn't fit..a mid 80s Raleigh Kodiak, an 83 Schwinn Voyageur SP, a 74 Raleigh International come to mind. But the one that did fit & I still ride is an 83 Specialized Sequoia I picked up for $75

Correct.

A humorous bit about Ray opening the box. I asked him if he wanted to open the box and he immediately said , "Where's my knife!" I think he was as stoked as I to get the bike.

Raleigh International. How long have I longed for one of those. I did score this near mint example, setting me back twenty dollars (longer story). Sadly, this one was wayyyy too big for me, I striped the bike for parts and sold the frame to a girl in Hawaii who gave it to her fella for hohoho season...

Mine would be this vintage Sears 5 speed made in Austria. I had to cut some string from the back wheel, But, after that and air in the tires, it is a great ride.

This little 3-speed Condor from Switzerland was missing its handlebars when I found it at the co-op but was complete (but for the broken taillight) and original otherwise.

I've got a couple bikes in my collection that are exceptionally clean. But the one that looks like it just came out of the showroom is my silver with black panels 1974 Motobecane Grand Record. It's in "as new" condition and appears to be catalog correct. Funny thing about it is there is a black paint smudge on the right seat stay that apparently got past the quality control people … it's under the clear coat!

The Raleigh Competition and'75 Motobecane Grand Record are pretty mint, too.

I've had a few. This one being the oldest. As found with a layer of dust. If there's a scratch on it, I haven't found it yet

87 ice pink prelude that was bought, maybe ridden a few times and stored in a spare room for 30 years. It was 100% original and flawless.
I was moving and trying to downsize so I sold it. I don't even want to look for the pic. It will make me even sadder

Weighing in at a hefty 42 lbs! I love this bike. I bought it a few years back. It's the same bike I had as a kid.

My concept of "mint" as it applies to bikes has certainly changed over the years.

One of my first cool bikes was a Raliegh Sprite- my memory is that it was almost unused... I don't know how true that is.

The next cooler bike I got was my Trek 420. That bike was beautiful. The paint was astonishing. Again, I remember it being "mint" but again, I don't think that was actually the case.

Most of all the pix I had of those bikes went away with Image Shack.

The reason I really doubt my memory- is that when I got my Stumpjumper- I thought it was really really clean. It's not. It's not quite "ridden hard and put away wet" but it's certainly "well loved."

Just picked up this Sakai yesterday for a reasonable price in this pandemic bike boom. Well maintained and ready to ride. I'll make some minor upgrades and enjoy it along with my Peugeot UO14. Will admit to just missing a few beauties though!
