Should I Shave ?
I've got a big lull between races, like more than a month, should I keep up with the shaving ?

I'm thinking of shaving my bum. My hairy butt is starting to chafe...
Wait, what are you shaving?!

I shaved for a crit this weekend
I don't expect to crash but since Crits are a common place for one I figured the clean up would be easier

Are you going to be completely off the bike during that month?

I never race. I'm fat and slow. I'm also clumsy so I shave regularly. Once the hairs grow longer they clog the razor. If I go more than a month without shaving I use spray on hair remover to get started again.

you must always shave, how will people know you are a good cyclist otherwise?
Seriously, I can tell 87% of the time from a first glance how good someone is on a bicycle by looking at their calves and seeing if they shave or not.
If you don't shave, I won't take you seriously at all - neither will any of the other racers around here.

If you don't shave, how will I know to wave at you?

I used to think this... until I lined up at a race and the hairy dude won... then I saw him the next week, and he lapped the field solo. Turns out good mountain bikers don't always shave but can be real strong. But for the most part if you don't shave you're not on my "watch list" until you prove otherwise!
