Shimano Ultegra 6800 Road Wheelset
I am looking to upgrade (on a budget you freaks 
) my current wheels on my Specialized Allez Sport Ultegra.
Chain Reaction has Shimano Ultegra 6800 Road Wheelset for about $350. Anyone have any experiance with these? I've read some reviews, but thought I'd canvass this group as well.

I picked up a set last fall. 4500 miles on them so far and they are great wheels. If you pick up a set, do yourself a favor and spend a couple of extra minutes to add a little extra grease to the bearings and properly tension the preload. They have a reputation of being under-greased and over-tightened from the factory.

I placed the order last week. It was 279.99 for the wheelset. 29.00 shipping due to dimension of the shipping box.. cassette was something like 50.99 + tax
Found a good deal on a set of Ultegra wheels. Added a 12-25 cassette as recommended by a fellow Floridian forum member: US$383.34 - Competitive Cyclist

Hard to beat these wheels for the price.
I have a set that I bought last spring and have had zero issues, I've never even had them trued. My only complaint is that tires fit very tight on them. You'll need a few levers and some patience to get a new set of tires mounted.
The rear freewheel hub is pretty quiet, if that's something that matters to you.

Completely agree, for the price, hard to beat. And they can carry my fat a** without issues...
You are not supposed to use levers with these wheels. I followed a recommendation from the forum. Placing the tire in the middle of the rim gives the needed clearance to install the tires without the need for levers or messing up your fingers/hands.

Just a thought. I bought the Easton EA90 SLX from Competitive Cyclist for under $500 delivered (there was a stacked coupon at that time).
Its 350g lighter than Ultegra 6800, wider rim internal width (17.5mm vs 16mm I think), 25mm rim depth (vs 23mm). But the EA90 has round spokes (vs. aerospokes on 6800)
If you can swallow $350 (+ ship for your original budget), maybe EA90 SLX is within reach. I am just saying.

Back to the wheels...I've got a set and run them tubeless. I'm pretty pleased with them. Relatively easy to set up tubeless due to the lack of spoke holes.

Competitive Cyclist has the best price BUT they dropped the ball on my order...out of stock when the chat person finally put in the order. Adding insult to injury, they no longer carry Shimano 10 speed cassettes....not too happy with that experience

I scored a new pair from Performance (they price matched their other chain Nashbar) down to $300 and then I had $100 in points so I got them for $200 cash. They are bomb proof. True (or tru?) out of the box and I smack them around NYC and have run them on different bikes and they have stayed in good shape. Personally, though I prefer the RS81 C24's for my regular road bike.

One knock on them is that I believe they're still narrow rim profile. I'd look into Fulcrum as they also offer good value and are more up to date on rim width.

These wheels are inexpensive, have terrific hubs, are extremely well built, are easy to set up tubeless and are well finished. On the downside, the spokes are proprietary, mounting tires on them is difficult and they're not very aero. To me, they're easily the best sub $400 wheels sold.

Yep, this is where I am at also. I honestly keep considering the Ultegra wheelset and then see I can get the lighter wider Fulcrum Racing 3s and go that route. I'm running two sets of Fulcrum 3's and a set of the similiar Zonda's without any problems with them what so ever. And I'm on the "heavier" side at the low 190s.
