The Skipper of my ship lived in one of those houses in the early 90’s when they closed those bases down (Mare Island, Presidio, Treasure Island) I had visions of buying a cool old house at a good price but of course the big shots got em all. Glad that one is getting some public use.

Around town. Hey, Mountain's out!
A nice sign after recent heavy rain. Even better, yesterday, the 10-day forecast was mostly rain. Today, it's mostly sun! happened in one day?

I love this. Reminds me of something similar I captured several years ago while waiting on my early morning train to leave Houston: pic.

Yea, but I'm not complaining!
It was a beautiful day once the fog burned off.
Bob n I drove into Seattle and caught the ferry for a meandering bike ride over on Vashon Island.

I took the long way home, turning my 8-mile round-trip commute into 24 loaded and hilly miles. I was rewarded with some fine evening views of the bay.
A little window shopping at Jitensha Studio toward the end of the ride.

Always thankful to post this thread
Took a final ride on Friday, and a final final ride on Saturday. Neither very long.
(truth is I never dialed in the gearing.)
This one is going back to its' original owner.
When I came to realize some of this bike's history, well..... it just has to go home.
Pay it Forward.
A lovely ride.
Below, almost ready to box up and final shake test. Bar/stem/levers yet to be foamed.
Was the wonderful ride = quality frame or light tubular wheels with Veloflex 27mm? Both? Nostalgia on the brain?
yeah, ... = I know.....fork got bent.

Tried to ride out to the other local Tiki bar that I've yet to have a drink at. Gate was locked at the marina so I turned around and took a yet another pastoral coastal plain picture on the way back. Rode something like 22 miles, with enough of a breeze to discourage coasting for half the ride.

Really nice weather today got some things sorted out on the recent Fuji coaster build. So I took a nice test ride up to Alma and back on the bike trail about 15 miles round trip the bike actually road a bit better than expected.

I recently found a good 10-mile protected route downtown from my house, so that's given me some nice after-work rides. Today was a glorious 70º out, so I went out on the Bianchi.

3 hours before some friends were going to meet up to go ride the Middle Fork Road (it's an out n back route..), I set off to get some additional miles beforehand.
Rode in the opposite direction to Issaquah thinking rather optimistically that I could get there and back in time for the ride.
I told them to not wait for me to hedge my bet.
I figured if I was late getting to the North Bend starting point, I'd ride out that way and catch them on their way back.
I rode hard, especially so when it became apparent I was running about 25 minutes late.
The ride up the Middle Fork Valley was a 12 mile uphill time trial. It really began to hurt.
It was pretty though when I shook off the tunnel vision and looked around.
The Middle Fork today by Matthew Pendergast, on Flickr
I caught them at the end of the road, sitting at a picnic table eating snacks by the river. When we got up to leave I had to shake off some leg cramps.
They (cramps) revisited me as we rode back into town. Tonight my hamstrings have locked up several times. *ouch*!

I was looking forward to my weekly commute downtown for my volunteer shift at the Rusty Spoke co-op, but about 3 miles into the ride my plans changed with a bang.
I wasn't really in a situation where I could count on someone to pick me up, and the rip in the tread was larger than any boot I had in my tools, so I carefully layered a good portion of the legal tender in my wallet inside my tire, replaced the tube, and inflated only to enough pressure to avoid a pinch flat.
Seems to be holding so far.
I turned around and headed back home at a careful speed, trying to put as much of my weight on the undamaged front tire.
A few nerve-wracking miles later...
But I made it home, and retrieved the boot money too. Whew. Drove down for my shift as they wanted me there ASAP due to a crowd of customers, and then replaced the tire late in the evening.
Hoping the weekend rides won't be quite as "interesting".
