I took my Gitane for the last commute day of the year (woohoo winter break!) and stopped by the park for a photo on the way home.
Edit: Adding a better view of the bike.

A good ride tonight on our annualish Moon Valley Christmas Lights Ride (we do it twice each season). Not a big turnout, but a fun night. I was on my big ol' chrome forged Schwinn cruiser with lots of added blinky lights (which of course don't photograph well.) I'll let the pictures say the rest.

I will also note that my psychiatric skills are likely not even worth the suggested 5¢ copayment....

Squeezed in a short ride on my Rivendell Sam Hillborne 2 days ago. This is another bike I really love and consider my prime bike .
I tend to baby it and save for nice days.
It's burnt orange color fits in with many of the 🍂 🍁 leaf colors.

Stanfield is only two miles from my place but I never ride to here as it is a narrow high volume road. But i took a chance and made a dash on the narrow center section. Packed it up for the ride back home in the Blazer. Paramount with cracked frame with all left over parts on it. Has 28’s on it.

Getting a ride in upstate NY in mid-December is a treat. My first ride in a looong time and it didn’t disappoint. Mrs. ascherer was able to join me for the last 5 miles, even better!
Ashokan Station trailhead, the midpoint of the 11.5 mile trail. Mrs. ascherer met me here on my return trip. We rode to the eastern end and drove back west to fetch her car.
Without foliage one sees deeper, the water on the right is usually hidden.
View of the west basin.
It was a late afternoon ride, shadows were long.
View of Slide Mountain from Boiceville. This is one of my favorite spots. The on-road route just to the west is great, too.
I don’t think this is the same spot as the photo above, but maybe it is. I’ll have the check the geotags.
Looking to the southwest, I believe Peekamoose Mountain is in the background.
The Woodstock Dike at the eastern end of the trail in Hurley.

Drove to Lawrence Kansas for the weekend, and rode on a cool overcast Saturday to Vineland. A nice 33 mile loop. The ride returned to Lawrence on a nice 4 mile bike path on an old railroad. Along the way several historic markers, as well as Free States brew facility. Here’s some pictures. Lawrence KS has a painful history between the abolitionists and slavery groups before and during the civil war. The Quantrill raid is considered one of the worst atrocities of the civil war.

A nice mid December ride today to Singing Beach, Manchester By The Sea, Massachusetts. How many more rides will I be able to get in before the New Year?

pre 1989 I eat in the place across the street from this old speed shop. Lots of headers lying on ground behind the building. Have never seen it open in six years. Vintage trucks and cars come and go. Very small town with two cross streets.

We had a break in the rains this afternoon, so I took the opportunity to squeeze in 25 hilly miles, one of my usual loops. You’ve seen this view before, but worth repeating (SF & Golden Gate Bridge off in the far distance).
View looking west from top of Grizzly Peak.
Beginning of the green hills season.
Little redwood grove near Tilden Park.
