Nishiki Prestige ~1985, 5'5"-5'11" - $200 (Hopkinton)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Nishiki
model name / number: Prestige
more ads by this user

An awesome, classic bike. Very low miles, great for a flat-bar conversion, commuting, or owning a classic piece. Downtube shifters are still smooth. Bar tape is crisp. Wheels are true and pedals clips still hold fast. Bike has been stored indoors for it's whole life, ridden very little, and is just being sold to free up space. Tires are okay, will soon need replacement. ~25in reach (center of seat to handlebar), ~32 in standover, ~21 in seatube. Good for someone about 5'9", give or take about 4 inches. Text is okay, email is preferred. Sale includes frame mounting pump, in matching colors. Bikes front tire blew out (both were very old) so will be sold without a front tire.

Dunno where this falls in Miyata's timeline or hierarchy, but I know there are plenty of people who love their touring bikes, so I pass it along. This one is in Indy. I'm not willing to go check it out for you.

A number of TAAAALLLL frames and bikes, mix of sub-$260 prices in Coral Springs FL (ad is a month old): https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/bik/6103120757.html

The white '86 Peloton w/Superbe-Campy mix is maybe the best buy at $250?

That looks like a fantastic price for a fully-equipped MAX bike (with some desirable Mavic goodies hanging off of it, no less). Unfortunately, it looks like a person would have to be about 6'8" in order to ride.

I saw that De Rosa on eBay, just re-listed. I would have thought seller could get that price easy in a Seattle local sale.

This one's been a bit cobbled to hell for that ask price. Pretty sure it should have Mafac Competition calipers and Mafac levers, not sure RD is stock, shift levers aren't. Not a bad sample, but I'd have issue with paying more than half the ask. I sat on it for a bit and managed to score this one for $150.

I notice both yours and the one for sale have Sugino cranks. I thought the TdF came with Stronglight?

AS I understand for the time, Motobecane and Peugeot dominated the market and got preference on Stronglight. When production of Stronglight cranksets couldn't meet all manuf'er demands, others like Gitane were forced to go with alternate options, and the Mighty Comp was chosen as that alternative.

You saw this in other areas also, like how some of Gitane's top-of-the-line bikes came with Campy dropouts/fork ends, Simplex dropouts, or a mix (like mine) of Campy in front and Simplex in rear. They used what they could source.

PS - Surprised they didn't go with Nervar instead, but maybe they didn't have a true "competition/pro/racing" line for the era?
