Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

or just get a longer sleeved nut to reach the shorter threaded post. That's the under $1 solution.

Great tip, but I checked the lengths and I think a longer bolt in the brake would serve better. I searched a similar topic on bike forums and either a longer recessed nut or bolt is a solution, but a longer nut in this case (20mm at least) might not be enough to really secure the bolt.

I'll remember that for future use though. Where can you get one for $1 though? I just came back from Home Depot and looked around, and the guy didn't even know what I was talking about. They have some online, but with shipping it's like $5.

I went with a front brake. I don't mind having the extra rear and I may want to go single speed someday.

^ I did! I actually just overpaid for a front brake from the closest bike shop to my apartment.

But I hear you. There's plenty around here, but I just don't want to drive to them. Biking to them is easy but this bike isn't ready to ride yet.

I'd say 83% off is a good deal... Tempted to pick one up, if I had a use for it.

Looks like most places actually do sell that stem in the $120-ish price range. Might be a good deal at $50.

I forgot to mention it was a deal of the day... @ $29.99 . . . but $50 is still a good deal on it none the less

Great deal if you're short, or if you're looking to buy a Dura-Ace drive train and wouldn't mind a spare frame/wheelset/etc.

It really was a great bike, I'd still be riding it now if it had fit me. I wonder what happened to the member I sold the frame to?

They have a ton of these and they're putting them up a lot. Keep your eyes peeled! I'd buy one if I didn't already have a Lazer and love it.
