Is that a fork from a Schwinn Madison?

I had to do a double take because it reminded me of a 90's vintage Rock Shox Judy fork in that grayish color. The black section looked like the rubber dust boots. haha

I noticed the fork immediately and am wondering about it too.

It's an aluminum fork from a Giant Bowery.

I'm running an aluminum fork on a steel frame and in all honestly, I don't feel any difference in ride quality. Maybe it's because my alloy bars/stem (quill) flex a bit but I didn't feel any extra harshness compared to my steel setup. It's a Vitus bonded aluminum fork so I'm not sure if that's any different than a standard aluminum fork in terms of feel/harshness.

Those old forks were a lot more flexible (compliant) than modern aluminum forks like that Giant. Many decades ago I owned an Alan screwed and glued frameset, and it was a wet noodle with an extremely soft ride.

Looks like a work bike, which is often comprised of whatever parts the owner happens to have sitting around.

Is that pole he is locked to even bolted down?

One of the bolts is missing and it looks like it is just sitting on the grate.

That seems a very apt description for that bike.

this one is pretty JA for lack of foot retention/brakes. Didn't look like a coaster brake hub at all either, but maybe I'm the dumb one :s
