1980 Bridgestone road bike model
I just purchased a 27” Bridgestone road bike and Im wondering what model it might be. From the serial number and a little researching I’ve learned it’s probably a 1980. The decals are intact but no reference to a model number. The rear derailleur is a Shimano Altus C10 with a six speed free wheel and friction shifters mounted to the stem. An article I read referenced RB-1, RB-2, and RB-3 among others as possible models. How would I determine what model bike I purchased?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If it has stem shifters it probably isn't as nice as any of the models you listed. I'd say flip through their 1980 catalog if you can find it.

Although they start with 1982, check out these catalogs.

Altus started out in the very late 1970s as an upper entry level, road mini-group but an Altus C10 would be mid-1990s, so it's probably a replacement. The serial number will tell you the year but not the decade. However, 27" wheels, friction stem shifters and a 6 speed freewheel would all be appropriate for 1980 and typical of an entry level model. Pictures would be a big help.

Does it have an integrated derailleur hanger? My guess is a 400 or something like that. A picture would help immensely. I don't think any of the RB bikes came with 27" wheels as they had been mostly phased out of non-entry level bikes by the time that line started.
