Pretty simple, the person driving tried to kill someone. Should be in jail. No licence ever again. They DGAF about other humans.

Any time I see videos like this I put myself in the position of both operators and asked what I could have done differently. In this case it's pretty obvious what the motorist did wrong. If they don't have their driving privileges revoked, it will be a horrible injustice. Drivers like that do not belong on the road.
The first thing I would have done differently as the rider, is I would have stopped at the traffic light in the middle of the lane. I am more likely to be seen and treated as traffic that way. I have been known to pull far right, allow all the motor vehicles to go, then go once they cleared. In the subject scenario when I proceeded, I would have remained center lane until I could have safely moved further right to allow cars to go by at a safe distance. If I am going to run a red light, I am going to do it for a reason. I am left to wonder that cyclist's reasoning.

So while the authorities try to solve the problem of traffic congestion and road deaths, road users themselves seem to accept that bad driving is an acceptable norm.

The cyclist went down like bowling pin, and if this is a regular occurrence (hit & run) I wouldn't ride in an area like that.
I guess (he?) was able ride away, which is fortunate.
Just mild harassment eh?

Bad driving is THE norm. So the cyclist who abandons the road in favor of an indoor trainer has solved the problem by TAKING ACTION and not depending on the entire world to adjust themselves to his/her cycling sensibilities. I respect that kind of thought and decision making. The power is in OUR hands, unless we relegate that power to a bunch of drunk, distracted, Oxycontin heads driving paramilitary vehicles on narrow roads and ancient infrastructure.

I look at the world around me and see what it is all about. Then I structure my behavior accordingly. Sometimes I am willing to take risks and other times not. Riding my bike in traffic is not fun. It is sometimes necessary. Cycling for FUN in traffic is not necessary. So I can just let that be and do something else, including cycling indoors on a trainer and relax, let my mind zone out, watch TV, blare music, whatever I want with only a minuscule risk of being hit by a meteorite. No need to cower indoors at all. Nothing to fear there, just joy.

I think some posters fail to realize there are vast regional differences in driving behavior.
I don't fault anyone for not wanting to take chances on the road, and I accept that anything can and will go wrong every time I step out the door.

I should think that most of us will get taken by artery blockage or some nasty virus that simply doesn't care. Or lightning.
Dwelling on death instead of focusing on the life you have is defeatist. You simply have no clue HOW you will die, you will eventually die, guaranteed and you are wasting a lot of time obsessing over it.
You are not in control of death, be in charge of life.

Unlike nature where sharks adapted to ocean environments, we put the "sharks" (cars) into the water decades ago and molded the environment (road infrastructure & lax enforcement of laws) such that it was conducive to their breeding. Your solution is like taking aspirin to treat cancer.

I just want some exercise. I don't need to get anywhere most of the time. Also, controlling what I do is EASY. Controlling the rest of the world is nearly impossible or at the very least extremely difficult. I already have a full time job, I don't need any more thankless work.
I look at the world around me and see what it is all about. Then I structure my behavior accordingly. Sometimes I am willing to take risks and other times not. Riding my bike in traffic is not fun. I think it's pretty clear at this point that the person you're trying to convince is the one in the mirror.

You started the most self-indulgent thread in the history of BF to announce that you were leaving regular posting, yet here you are repeatedly advocating the surrendering of roads to the supposedly prevalent bad driver in several threads.
I think it's pretty clear at this point that the person you're trying to convince is the one in the mirror.

At least I'm not crying about all the bad drivers and posting every headline featuring dead cyclists killed in traffic and STILL riding in traffic. This is what really puzzles me about people. Sometimes the obvious solution to feeling we are in danger is to NOT put oneself into dangerous scenarios. I am just stating the (not so) obvious.
In case you haven't noticed, these are not the "Don't Bike Forums" .

And what's become so puzzling are your previous threads instructing others how to properly run red lights and stop signs. But now we learn you do this just for the exercise with no intention of going anywhere in particular. So what's your hurry going nowhere?

Same person who asked you to come back after making such a preposterous show of leaving. That might be excusable if you had something new to say, but you're literally picking up exactly where you left off, posting in multiple threads saying pretty much exactly the same thing.

Joey has explained many times that running reds allowed him to get and stay in front of traffic. Clearing entire sections while reducing or completely eliminating the incidences and risks of being passed by motor vehicles. He's also "staying out of the way" of motorists, delaying them as little as possible. It doesn't matter if he is going somewhere or not. It wouldn't work in my environment, but does in the grid.
