27" X 1-1/4 tire, what tubes?
I cannot seem to find the required tubes that fit inside a 27"x1-1/4 tire. My brain hurts trying to figure out the tube size. I've got the old tubes;stamped at both 28x1-5/8x1/8 and 27x1,1-1/8,700x20c-25c. I cant make sense of this at all. What's going to fit a 27"x1-1/4 tire...? Help!

700c x 28-32 is the same tube used on 27 x 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" tires

27" is very close in diameter to 700c, so tubes are interchangeable.
1 1/4" is nominally ~32mm.
So, if you get a 700c tube that's made for tires somewhere in the rough vicinity of 32mm, you'll be fine. I don't like going bigger because that makes the tube harder to install, but a bit smaller is fine.

27 x 1¼ tires are 32-630 in ETRTO sizing - a standard which provides the most robust description of the tire size.
28x1-5/8x1 1/8 are 28-622 (aka 700-28c)
700-20c are 20-622
700-25c are 25-622
Tubes are very flexible.

So, 700-25c should be good to go on my 27"x1-1/4 wheel? The tubes I'm finding at that size describe themselves as fit for a 700c wheel which I've found out by buying and since returning 700c tires is smaller than my wheel.

buying tires that fit a rim is much, much more exacting than buying tubes.
buy a:
27x1 1/4
27x 1 1/8
27x1
700x25mm
700x28mm
700x32mm
tube.
buy a:
27x1 1/4
27x 1 1/8
27x1
700x25mm
700x28mm
700x32mm
tube.

The inside diameter of the 27" rim is 8mm more than a 700c. (630mm vs 622mm)
Thus, a 700c tube will stretch slightly and fit fine. (PI*8mm)
Likely the box will specify for both sizes.

get a 700x 28-32 tube, with the appropriate valve stem size/design.
a 20-25 will stretch thinner when inflated, and will "pinch flat" more easily.

Been wondering about a mountain bike inner tube. If i change my mtb tire from 2" wide to 1 1/2" wide, do i need a different tube? This is on an old mtb with 26" wheels.
thanks

Depends on what tubes you were using before. Some of mine are marked 26"x1.5-2.2", which would work with either.

It probably could work, but would increase the chance of pinching the tube when installing it. Make sure you have a little air in the tube to give it shape when putting it in the tire.
