Saw the butthole surfers way back when, Hobby sang through a megaphone, there was a topless dancer dancing in front of a screen showing black and white highway death films. It was quality family entertainment !

Right now the talent seems Almost limitless when it comes to Texas Country and Red Dirt Music. Muscisians most have never heard of.

Listening to some Red Dirt right now. It originated in Oklahoma, though.

Really hope she gets better and sings again!

I actually think she's glad she can't sing anymore. I mean with her money, the pressure is off to perform for the masses again.

This set of records (mine is an early 1980's French Verve reissue LP set) is one of my most treasured possessions. It's what the newer songbirds wish they were, and Nelson Riddle in top form. Ella Fitzgerald, and George & Ira Gershwin at their finest.

I think that was the whole point, Linda was a badazz star without a doubt, she helped usher in an era of phenomenal women that shaped music as much as the greats that came before them.

Just thought I'd add to this thread with a mention of one of Linda's pals, Lowell George.
She sang some back up on a couple of George's tunes, and gave Little Feat quite a boost
when she recorded and released George's song, Willin'.
And speaking of Little Feat, a quick mention of another great one lost. The other half of one of the
greatest guitarist pairings ever. Paul Barrere. Who provided the perfect counterpoint to George's slide.

I wonder if Linda ever did any work with Patty Smyth. They could be sisters.

Sat next to Linda at the Troubadour circa late '70 at a Flying Burrito Brothers show. Apparently she was hanging out with one of them, and sang a few songs. Mesmerizing.

For me, the best tune Linda Ronstadt recorded was "Long, Long Time" though I love most everything she recorded. "Long, Long Time" also had Lee Hazen's superb engineering, Woodland Sound in Nashville's fine acoustics, and fine Nashville session musicians.

Wow. If both Gram and Bernie were in the band, that had to be some show.

I hate we have so little live film footage of Gram.

If she were my sister I'd keep her locked in the house and shoo the riff raff away from the front door.

Here's a new great talent burning up the Youtube scene in the last couple of years with millions of views and subcriptions....
Check her out!
Her name is Morissette Amon. A young Filipina with super phenomenal talent!
She had truly impressed all sorts of singing professionals around the world.
Plus she's beautiful to top it all up!
Hope you guys don't mind me posting about her on this thread. Just want to note that the best talented female singers are not only from the US and Europe.
I'm very very proud of her as my roots are from the Philippines!

From what I've read, she's afflicted with Progressive Supraneuclear Palsy, which is what killed my wife, Patti, after seven years. The realization that Linda has had it at least that long but is in much better condition (the last two years, I was feeding Patti thru a tube in her stomach four times a day, she could no longer swallow) had me both amazed, and hoping that she's got more than a few years left. The unfortunate reality is that it is going to kill her.
