Ishiwata 022, casually the same spec as Columbus SL, and all quality. Trek's "low end" of the time beign quite high! I would not be ashamed of another Trek 022 frame. I had one briefly, but sold it to an even taller guy, so that was good. Just need another!

This may be of interest to someone. My only area of concern would be this as a respray, they didn't or couldn't be arsed to fix the tubing corrosion and/or chipping of original paint all over the tubing, stays and blades.

Last one for me today. Here's a 59cm PKN10 frame, looks like an '81 to me. Fork is bent, and maybe my eyes are getting worse, but I don't see other damage to the head/top/down tubes consistent with a hard front-ender enough to do that to the fork. Seller has lots of key pictures to track evidence of other issues.

Bidding starting at $30 with $40 BIN price, $65 ship. Could be a nice 531 main-tubed frame for someone, or replace the fork if no other oddities and ride like you stole it. Missing head-tube sticker isn't impossible to source.

Ok, I lied, here's another Swissie. Columbus tubed Cilo in a nice lavender/fuscia/lilac powder color. I think price is too high based on the amount of corrosion and not sure if fork is original or not (if I were interested, I'd look it up). $75 start. If this was $40 start, I think it'd be way more interesting.

Got to keep the dream alive....... I Snoped that one out, and as I recall the geometry is similar except for a jacked up bottom bracket height.



I figured this out when a 23" lugged 720 multitrack was on craigslist a while back. On the lugged frames I would need a 21" to have comfortable stand over and reach. Trek lowered the bottom bracket on the later tig welded Multitracks because people were rideing them more on pavement than off road, I believe that they are still significantly higher than the "520". The other problem is that the 520's geometry shifted around over the years. I have a 22.5" Trek 400T Elance that shared the 520's geometry of that year, so that years 520 is solidly in the "sports touring" camp. I'd still like to find a 21" lugged Multitrack, but as far as touring with a high bottom bracket my experience with a 23" Koga Miyata Hybrid touring conversion, I would have preferred a bit more drop, riding loaded on the road.

Aw, man, nothing that a little, er, a lot of cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing can't overcome! It's GPX so it's right near the top, and thus, I would hope, have a higher quality and more durable finish. Hidden brake caliper springs! It's a good groupset, IMO.

I'm surprised at the rust on the GPX...or maybe it is just grime. It would be interesting to see that bike cleaned up and see what the GPX looked like. I always felt it was like Sante, and very unattractive other than the allen bolt centering bolt...which was also cool on the Modolos...

Some people swear by GPX, but I was a Suntour guy and always loved Arx, plus Superbe and Cyclone stuff from afar.

Ole was the Sante equivalent, down to the accent and white painting on the components. GPX was 105 level (third in the normal hierarchy) below Sprint 9000 and Superbe Pro. A 1989 Cannondale SR700 came equipped with GPX (SR600 was 105), and I built one with that. Cool fact: 7 clicks on that right shifter (Accushift Plus era) which means, at 5.0mm spacing (standard 7-speed), you could shift 8 gears. Basically, you could run a Campy 8-speed cassette without issue. I took an 11-speed wheelset and made a 'custom' 8-speed Shimano cassette. Worked great.

Accushift Plus-era Suntour had really nice components/groupsets IMO. It may have been too late, but they looked good and worked well.
