Fenders for '08 Specialized Allez

Hi friends,

I moved to the Pacific Northwest recently and I'd like to get some fenders for my bike for commuting to work. It's an '08 Specialized Allez. It has eyelets at the rear but I will be using those to hold up a rack. No eyelets at the fork.

The main problem is that the clearances are TINY. Very little space between the tire and the fork/seatstays. This is with a 23mm tire.

What would be some good fenders? I'd prefer to avoid the kind that clip onto the seat tube because they wouldn't stop my saddlebags and the bike itself from getting filthy.

Thanks.

PS: I know this isn't the best bike for commuting. For now, I'd prefer to avoid buying a new bike though.

Kind of a truncated full-fender that clips to your seatstays, and not the seatpost.

My father in law used to have full fenders on his trek 1000, which also had very little clearance. He actually commuted for a few years on 700x20 tires so the fenders would fit.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like there are 3 variations of the raceblades: Pro, Pro XL and Long. Do you think the longs would work with my bike?

fwiw - I prefer more coverage than less, meaning that front portion on the front wheel would help keep your face dry I think

Sure, but will it fit on this bike?

maybe these guys know, write to the magazine editor?

someone in this thread likes "Giant Defy blades"

https://forum.bikeradar.com/discussi...cialized-allez

these look promising, you can probably contact their Customer Support Dept. & ask

I have a road bike & have wondered what kind of fender would fit & I'd guess the ones with the split fender would be the way to go
