Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shift lever service

Hi,

I want to service my road Shift Lever, but I do not know which method will be the best. I do not want to disassembly whole mechanism, because it is too complicated.

Generally I found that quite popular is to use degreaser in spray and than oil and grease on outer parts. Is this good idea?

I have Shimano oil in aerosol ( chain and cables). Will it be good? Grease I want to use is teflon based Shimano Cable Grease, which looks like that one which was inside shifter.

Any comments? Better ideas?
