Addiction LXXIX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have no unfinished credits to transfer though. And wouldn’t go to Michigan regardless.

Hanging in my garage, the classic Panasonic from when my wife taught aerobics from 1982 to 1988. I use it a lot but I generally plug my iphone into it to play pandora or podcasts while working.

WIN OF THE DAY:

I open a seldom used desk drawer and find a Snickers bar. No idea how long it's been hiding in there. Did look a little white.

How much longer is on the docket?

My wife recently informed me that she'd changed our South Dakota plans for mid-October and booked a hotel in Duluth, instead... It didn't register immediately, but the ~175mi, one-way ride that I'd been working towards might be in play.

Win of the day not involving food. I got in a bonus ride. Cloudy all day, a brief shower after lunch but I dodged the raindrops and did it.

took the wheel to the shop. He tore it apart and put it back together. Nothing was lose before taking it apart and he torqued everything back down to spec. Free hub didn’t have any play with the cassette off, and the cassette isn’t missing any spacers. He says the play is normal.

Friend asked me to go 75 miles with him tomorrow, maybe 1 or 2 others will come.Might be the last day in the 90s for a while, I guess I'd better go. I was thinking of a 35 mile ride with club #2 . Time to suck it up.

What's wrong with your friend? Why does he need you to be his domestique? How many feet of gain? 100/mile? F that noise.

I won't be his domestique, just someone to talk to. Probably about 4000 feet, maybe a bit less. We used to do club rides every Saturday and Sunday but when you know what happened, that ended. He hasn't done any group rides because his 85 year old mother lives with him, but he recently started riding with me and a couple others.

Danger was in the air, again. Another yellow jacket nest. Fortunately I saw it just before mowing over it. Could have been bad as there were numerous stinging insects waiting to ambush me.

Nature hates me.
