It is still cheaper than even the cheapest car. I was surprised at how affordable they were back when I got mine.

I've read some of the adventures you've had on your's and am highly jealous! With two kiddos and one one the way, it would be nice to get the kids out and about with one. I just can't justify the cost, let alone convince my wife we should get one. I currently transport the kids in a trailer and my eldest will be riding his own soon enough. It suits our needs.
If I lived in a city (and lived in one place for longer than 3 years) I would consider getting one.
I bet if Lane offered a class on how to build, he could still get funding coming in the door and leave the cost of frame ownership relatively low. With the population of LA and San Diego potential pools, it seems feasible....but I don't own and operate a bike manufacturing business.

That's more than a $1000.00 price increase (on the frameset) since the company moved to the Los Angeles area.

he moved shop several times ,out of SF to Eugene, then to LA. maybe its the weather. Venice Beach Culture..
I expect his overhead cost went back Up . no longer a 1 man shop , so He's a "Job Creator"..

Lane from CETMA here. Yeah, sorry for the increase, I hear you, DAME. I know the increase is significant, but it's necessary and justifiable. I assure you, my prices are based on plain math and an honest, fair wage. The increase isn't related to my overhead here in Venice, but rather all the obvious and hidden materials, hardware, and post-production costs that I've been absorbing for a long time. I also gave myself an appropriate raise.
Fietsbob is correct, I used to live in SF. My wife and I moved to Eugene in April 2007, then to Venice in October, 2012. It's good here. The weather is unbeatable, although we're strongly considering a move to the San Luis Obispo area in the near future (top secret, you read it here first).

Lane - Price increase or not, I still drool over your bikes. I especially like the custom ones you've been producing (integrated racks, longer platform, etc.). I'm moving to the West Coast next year and hope to test ride a largo.

Hey,
There was a cetma listed in Seattle a day or two ago on Craigslist. $3400 - seems a good deal especially with the price increase. As a new Cetma owner myself I am out of the running for it and am willing to pass along the link.

I was just in VA beach for a long weekend and if there was ever a place for a cargo bike that is it. Bikes everywhere, flat as a day old pancake. If I did not have one in the garage this one would be tempting... I waited 7 months for mine.
Just say'n good price no wait. I'm sure Lane would be willing to give the seller shipping how to advice.
