Anyone already familiar here with GPS-tracker to locate my bike in theft case?

1) What out there in the market to recommend?
2) Are they reliable in theft case / location tracking?
3) Do they bother with false alarms?
4) Would you really chase your bike when you receive an alarm?

No one in that business just gives you a GPS tracker and leaves you to it. No, you buy the tracker and you also buy a subscription service to be notified when (if) your ride is tampered with and/or stolen. Guess how much this carbon fork sweetie cost me? Just over $600 with all the extras. And a $29 U-lock (and common sense) has kept her in my possession for almost four years. That's about what a GPS tracker and a few years of monitoring would cost. Dunno ... if I was really paranoid ... throw on another U-lock? Maybe also one of those loud alarms you put under the saddle that focus attention on the dirt-bag trying to bust two U-Locks? Maybe every month put the $19.99 for the alert subscription in an interest bearing account? Maybe avoid buying $3k+ full carbon race-bikes that no one has any business owning just to run grocery shopping errands.

Not all GPS trackers require subscriptions, but there are a lot that do, so do your research.

If you're in Europe (especially the UK), the iTrackit looks like a good deal. They've even got some buy in from the local police there, which is a big plus. Maybe it will catch on in the states too.

FWIW, iTrackit will work in the US, but it's not as well supported, and you have to have cellular service and signal for it to be effective.

My bike does not leave my sight except at one store, which has 24-hour security that is located right where the bikes are locked. Other than that, my bike comes inside with me or I do not take it.
