Looks like you actually have an '83 Nuovo Mexico - that is, if the top and down tubes are crimped. But I'm betting Super or NM, it's around '83 seeing as it has the fully-sloping fork crown.
Do the fork tangs have a one triangular and one round cutout on each side?
Lovely bike - in a truly classic color scheme

'88- '89 (?) SLX Spiral Conic.
Great Thread.
My latest project: SLX Conic- I'd appreciate any input on the rarity of the tapered downtube not having any Gilco shaping. Anyone else have a Conic with this option? Also, external rear brake cable routing and chrome head lugs.
Mostly period C-Record and Chorus parts, (save for the blasphemous Dura-ace rear derailleur and brifter)... Only temporary till the 11 speed Record shows up. Better pictures posted soon.

I have a Conic SLX with the crimped downtube. I am the original owner of the frame and was given the option of a straight bladed fork or a curved bladed fork - I chose the straight bladed fork.

I had a good look at your Conic SLX to see the downtube. I have seen another Conic SLX somewhere on the 'net with this same option of the plain downtube but I can't remember where I saw it. Was the plain downtube an option or an early version?

I found this frame on NY Craigslist, for a great price. So, I'm not sure as to what the original frame options were. Interesting to know, you've seen one with a plain downtube. Colnago wasn't nuch of a help, when I contacted them.
The pearl white finish is a respray, the original paint and decals were in terrible shape, it did however have remnants of the cursive "SLX Spiral Conic" top tube decal and SLX Conic Columbus seat tube decal, when i purchased it. (I wasnt sure if the previous owner, at some point, had stuck Conic decals on plain old SL Super.)
The downtube is tapered for sure, and the frame is very laterally stiff. I'll post the serial # when i have a chance. Maybe close to yours.
If you ever happen upon that internet link again. please post.
thanks,

A few month's ago I bought this Colnago. 2002 I think.Just for fun and to give it a try. I am more a Steel Pinarello fan, Colnago is in my eyes often over the top, just like this one. But I do like the colours of my frame, and most of all the way it's sprayed. The carbon looks, look real to me. The combination with the wheels is great. Although I'm to heavy for this combi, I've done around 600 or 700 km with it and to be honest, I love this bike. A few weeks ago I almost sold it but I'm glad I didn't.
Are you familiar with this type or can you tell me more, please do.
Thanks,
Arno
I still wonder why this won't work with Flickr.

As it appears repainted, some of the details are suspect. Nutted brake fixings and under the BB cable routing are not usually seen together on these. My guess the shift cable routing was changed at the time of respray, as was the addition of the braze on front derailleur mount.
1976-1978, probably a Super, Maybe a Mexico

Just arrived from the Netherlands. I believe 1977 or 78 Super. I plan on assembling with Campagnolo NR. My goal is to find a Pantographed Crank set, Stem, and Seatpost. May need to take some time. I currently have the NR Derailluers, Cinelli leather saddle and Ambrosio Extra Rims with Campy hubs. Any suggestions or opinions on the building up are welcomed.

My Colnago Elegant came back from a little visit to Texas today.
Friend of mine was working at a law conference in Austin over the last week and wanted a bike to take along while his new C59 was being built.
Take the Colnago I said!
Golly, how did he ride her with the saddle like that**********
Here are a few pics!
...and don't forget to notice DD's handiwork on the Ergos. Sweet or what.
