The old Murray

the old Venture in cruiser mode. It actually has a 2-speed hub so that I may have a chance against the 42,239.76 hills that litter the city in which I live.

my 98 dyno glide fully rebuilt. Converted bottom bracket to sealed bearing 3 piece crankset. made banana braces out of some bracket steele. "traffic" bars cut from some aluminum tubing. neck/headset came from a 98 dyno compe freestyle bike, had to use it because od the stamped in D that matches the one stamped behind the seat. This is my most used bike these days.

my old diamond back avenir that I converted into a single speed cruiser, and have since given it to my kid (she loves it)

New tires

I glued some rubber strips to the tops of my bars in front of the grips and wrapped them with some Newbaums cotton tape so I can move my hands around in comfort. New tires too.

Squid, I've always liked the simple and clean look of this bike!!
I have (5) of the Heavy Duti/Workhorse frames in the works and just might copy your look on one!!

I wish I had another. I'd like to build one in a pretty color and shiny silver components with racks and a basket.

SquidPuppet,
Go over to RRB and watch for ind-chuckz. He usually has either the Heavy-Duti or Workhorse frames for sale.

This is my home build cruiser. Started with a Huffy Goof Vibrations frame and adding many parts I had laying around the house. Built the wheels myself with aluminum rims and a sealed ball bearing BMX front hub and a Bendix Red Band kick back 2 speed hub in the rear. Roger

Is that a B15 Swallow on a Huffy? I think you win the best accessories award.

That is a very modified B17 that had damaged sides on it. Cut it closer to a swallow or swift shape but it is wider across the back. Brooks are easily modified if you can work with leather. Learned how from Boy Scouts and my Jr High Shop teacher. Roger

Yes...love it too. I just added the fenders and back rack to it last week. Changed out the seat and matching grips too.

You have a mountain bike, NOT a cruiser.

The Marin Point Reyes that I built from a frame is an urban cruiser with slick schwalbe Kojak 26 x 2.1 tires, and rigid all carbon forks. It is made for on road or paved trail riding. You would not do well riding this bike as a mountain bike. I am familiar with cruisers for I also have a restored 1954 Schwinn hornet.

Well, I never thought I'd own a cruiser, until now ........
I'm mostly interested in restoring / rebuilding vintage road and mountain bikes.

We were out shopping yesterday, and stopped at the big Habitat Re-Store downtown.
Walked in, and in the second isle was a whole row of bikes.
They were mostly all newer Wally World BSO's, tagged at $50 or so............ Except this one, sitting there looking sad, with flat tires, and very filthy
My wife saw it first, and said it was actually a nice looking bike.
And the more I looked, I had to agree -

It's a late 90's (I think) Schwinn Cruiser Six - Totally original as far as I can tell, and looks to have hardly been ridden.
The original "Schwinn Classic" tires look to be in perfect shape, virtually new in fact (but grungy), and the paint is pristine also.
Derailleur and brakes are fine - Like I said, hardly used.
Sadly, the chrome has suffered from the Florida humidity, but I think I have some work-arounds, and have high hopes that the bike will clean up nicely.

So, now I have a cruiser bike (Or rather my wife will)
I'm already becoming attached to it

I do apologize for the poor photo - The humidity was so bad this morning, the camera was fogging up

Oh, and ignore the $10 tag - It was discount day, and only cost $8.50

Once you ride it you will want to build one up for yourself.
