Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Moderation is easy for me at home, but more challenging in a social setting. "Okay, just one more," is more an excuse to keep hanging out than anything else. Still, I've gotten better.

On the weight front - Yeah, in terms of weight loss, I can totally see the benefit; not only are you cutting out the calories in the alcohol, but people tend to be less inhibited when tipsy, and that certainly includes indiscriminate eating.

We were two glass of wine on weeknights, Martinis on Friday, and maybe split a bottle of wine on Saturday people until about two years ago when I began to taper and LSS quit to lose weight. For the last year, it's been about one drink a week and, yes, we feel a lot better.

If the bus driver was careful with mask wearing, the risk to the others is low. If not careful, risk is high.

I have an easy time moderating when I'm out of the house since I am almost always driving. At my house there are no* consequences if I'm over the legal limit.

One surprising thing is how my appetite has changed, I'm still packing myself way too much food to take to work!

*of course, assuming that no situation comes up that would require me to leave the house like an injury or illness. Big gamble I've come to realize.

Have you ever run the Challenge Paris-Roubaix tire, I’m super interested in those, but heard they’re a royal pain to mount.

Yah, I would imagine it’s low. What I don’t know is if the drivers are taking their mask off when there are no students in the bus.

There are a lot of people hurting out there. We live in a town of about 60,000 people. I drove by our local food bank this morning, and there were cars lined up for about a mile waiting to drive through before it even opened. The thing is that ever since Covid really took hold, I had never seen it like that. Now there are cars lined up like that virtually every time I drive by.

datlas , you hearing anything encouraging about vaccines in PA? We got left off the federal roster of health care facilities (the paranoid in me wonders if deliberately) and have had to go begging to the state. Not expecting anything soon, even though we have committed to take up to 50 COVID patients from the community off-protocol.

The hospital across the street has the Pfizer vaccine and is giving it out to any hospital employee who wants it. They are part of the Penn system so that may have helped them with clout.

Since I am NOT a hospital employee I am not able to get one quite yet. But some of my colleagues who work there have already gotten the vaccine and/or will be getting it this week.

My office cannot handle the deep freeze for the first vaccine but we have applied to get the Moderna vaccine. I honestly don't know if we will be getting it and when. The public health system in our country is de-centralized so it's a mixed bag all around.

Sounds unpredictable. This morning I heard Hopkins has a lottery for clinical staff.

There is a family resource center, across the street from the WCNY studios, that operates an emergency food pantry. They have been extra busy this year.

Huh. No - they weren't even on my radar. I'll have to see if their tubeless option is compatible with hookless rims.

I’m not so sure on durability, but tubeless helps some of that.

Doesn't look like any of their tires, not even the gravel models, are hookless compatible at this point, so they can go back off of my radar. They do look like they could be interesting, though.

I don't have much, being a former working man, but I don't need much so I've been making donations to the Rhode Island Food Bank. I can't imagine not having enough food at home for your kids. After the financial crash where taxpayers bailed out the banks, putting a severe strain on the economy, we are in worst shape now.

I just heard on CBS radio that there is a new strain of virus in the U.k. and its showing up in other parts of the e.u.
does this vaccine cover us from this new strain or do they need to come up with a new on?

edit: cbs should read cbc. Spell check changed it.
