Are they both the same size? 22"?

I've been delinquent in posting my 22.5" 1989 Diamondback Ascent EX here.



My current commuter/utility bike. The original LX shifters had snapped pegs where they fit into the holders, so it has a mismatched pair right now, a black Light Action for the front and a green "Shimano SIS" one for the rear. I have a matched pair of the green ones, whatever they are, but the Light Action one has given me no grief, whereas there are some clicks in the friction mode of the green one. I've never serviced one, but I should quit putting it off.

The original aluminum rings were worn, so a steel set is on there for now. I found an aluminum set, but figure for the time being steel is fine.

There is some surface rust that I need to address as it is my all weather bike, doubly so now that I've moved near the ocean.

wish I'd taken a picture when I got it in Jan, was a mess. still need to respoke the pro class rims. It was fun to build while stuck inside during the cold months, and rides nice even with junior on back.

Just picked this Specialized Hardrock sport up for less than a case of beer, anyone have an idea on what year it may be? it is in incredible shape for the price paid (imho)

that's a great deal for a case of beer. unless it was a case of chimay or some other ridiculously priced ale. I'd guess it's a 1990 or there abouts but if you do a little research on the components you should be able to nail down an exact year.

Picked up this 1990's Trek 830 last winter from a seller who was the original owner and listed it on CL as a "project bike." I could tell he loved the bike and had ridden it hard, especially when I started looking at the project. The jockey wheels in the derailleur were worn down to little stars, the teeth on the chain rings were hooks, and inside the bottom bracket was a mix of grease, bearings and bearing cage pieces. But with parts from Ebay and a couple donor bikes, it has become my daily ride, and I can see why the seller enjoyed it so much. It's comfortable, speedy, and built like a tank. I'm not a kid, but I enjoy zipping by other people on the trail on this well-worn bike. (You have to pardon the "Magna" saddle--it was in reach and servicable.)
Then a question about a "Raleigh USA" M-20 I pulled out of the dump a couple weeks ago. Appears to be a cut above the dept store bikes, with Shimano components and a 3-piece crank. Seems a little heavy. Any guess about the age? Does it have any value for a flip, or should I give it to a new home?

M-30 approx 1996. Tough to get good resale for low end MTBs - this thing's MSRP $269.

Oops, you said M-20. I think it may be the same year.

This is a Bianchi Barrage. I don't know anything about it, other than it may have been a Canadian model? It was made in Taiwan and has very cheap components on it.

Had been left outside for too long by the PO. The only positives I can say so far are:

It's unique(maybe)
It's big enough for me





Oh..and I finally got the chain freed up enough to run it through the gears on a stand.

I have an 85ish Stumpjumper, it is all original Suntour xc except the brake levers (I might have a set) rims are original has the Biopace rings even. I put slicks on it as a commuter.

Mid-80's Fuji. Found on a garbage pile missing the front wheel. Nice rider, but sold since it was too small.

Here's a pic of my son's Specialized Stumpjumper Sport. Think it's a 1983.

When we bought it, the former owner gave us four sets of NOS Specialized tires he'd been saving!

The bike rides like a dream, although we've only used it on wilderness two lane roads and gravel.



Here I am taking a break at the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi in Lake Itasca State Park last weekend!



The Stumpjumper could take us almost anywhere, but not across the rocks.

Shorts worked well here though, as the river is only a foot or two deep at this point.

A 1993 Scott Comp Racing - 7 spd rear, Shimano Deore LX. Hasn't been run in 8-10 yrs and just got it road worthy yesterday.

Here is one I have been working on for a while. Ritchey TimberComp with a WTB dirt drop conversion. First Generation Suntour roller cams front and rear, white label XT groupset. Ground controls on RM20's.









Still fiddling with the build, I think I will change around a few things. Going to loose the Campy headset and levers for some
era correct Shimano 600. Don't think the white really worked so will re do it with black tape, cables and Regal saddle. The strong seatpost is certainly correct for that era Ritchey but I am right on the max height line and if I find the right black post from the era with a little more length I will go with it.

Just tossed the slicks, rack, lights on my 93 Trek 930 for commute mode.
Headlight is a tactical flashlight mounted in a homemade PVC clip on that can pivot and swivel. Almost too bright.
Just love this bike.
