Must be a tandem-theft epidemic. That stolen Schwinn post came not long after this post concerning an all-too-rare recovery:
We have a happy ending! After our tandem BikeE2 was stolen we contacted the local bike shops to alert them to our loss. Lo and behold, when the thieves damaged the stoker seat thru mishandling, they went looking for help to repair the problem. The vigilante bike store guys went into action, called the police and a police chase followed. Finally realizing they were nailed, the thieves dropped the bike and fled off.
We are overjoyed with our good fortune! The biking community is a wonderful thing. When the word went out many of you responded and offered good advice. I want to thank you one and all including also those who privately wished us well. Your positive thoughts paid off!

For that matter, it just might be one of those Clement tubular/clincher combo tires. There is an NOS pair at the LBS. Forget about fixing a flat, they're completely sealed.
