Value of pristine '93 MB 1

Classic lugged 49 cm MB 1. The bike had remarkably few miles when I bought it. Parts are pretty much all original other than the pedals and I have the original pedals in my parts box. Even the cables and cable housing are original. The grease wasn't contaminated when I opened up the parts so this bike had very few miles when I bought it. I've seen these going for big money at the auction house.

I'm not sure I want to sell this but I know someone who wants this. What is this worth?

Yow, I wasn't far off. I was thinking, sure, I'd drop $500 on that. no sweat. Now I see I would be low-balling it, perhaps?

That's a very pretty craft.

Bumping this up. This bike is almost completely original other than the pedals, grips, tires, and brake pads.

If your goal is maximizing $$ then a buddy sale is not likely the way to go. Properly presented on eBay $900 to $1000 + is realistic -- but of course you then have to deal with fees and the hassles involved in shipping, so...

For a really good buddy $600 is good, for an ok friend $700, for an acquaintance $750-800 (at that price you're in the eBay net range and assuming these buddies, friends, and acquaintances are local to you there'd be a lot less hassle.

Agree with above; you can get $1,000, but there will be a wait and the hassle of shipping in all probability.

And with the mythic fork crown, too... I don't have any advice on value, but I know that specific fork crown is one of those details the folks looking for one of these will eagerly seek out in sale pics.

IMO this would very easily clear $1000+ on eBay if you were willing to deal with the hassle. I recently watched an auction on there for a 92 XO-2 (the least desirable XO-2 imo even though I love mine) start at $350 and end just over $1100. I couldn't believe it. This bike is much nicer and looks to be in better shape. I wouldn't be surprised if it reached 1300 in the current market.

I may have to deal with eBay then. The bike is remarkably pristine. I bought it locally from someone who had worked for Bridgestone Tire Co. but was clearly no bike rider. I don't believe the bike had been ridden before I bought it. When I pulled it apart to overhaul it, the original grease was still intact so I stopped and left it alone. The cables and housing are all original. I replaced the brake shoes, the tires, the grips, and pedals but that's about it.

I love my '93 XO 2 and I'm not selling that.

I don't blame you. I've admired your XO-2 in the past.

You might also try posting a FS thread on the iBob forum. I don't know that you will maximize your dollar there like you will eBay but I can almost guarantee it'll be a better experience.
